1. Its my birthday

And I took the day off work. Going to NY over the weekend.

8. Still getting around.

Don't need a walker yet, but because of difficulty finding employment I'm receiving my first Social Security check next week. I'd hoped to hold out for two years, but finally threw in the towel. I'll work on the side.

10. I'm still holding out, making myself crazy doing consulting work.

I get lots of it, but it's hard stuff. I do a lot of psych evals of sex offenders. I guess I have a reputation as being fair and competent, so I get work from the courts and both defense and prosecutors. I also do a straight clinical practice, largely PTSD and other trauma-related treatment. Someday I'm gonna be able to set that all aside and write and play with my tractor & stuff like that.

I do graphic arts jobs - have been self-employed for years - but it's gotten slow. I've gotten work from local musicians - CD covers and posters, but not enough to pay my bills and have anything left over. With the SS things will be much better.

20. Is it "Dead man's Hand" day?

Black aces and eights? Though usually that is a pair of aces and eights (though I guess technically aces are 1's and not 0's) ... This gives us three of each. If one considers aces as ones though, I guess we'll have to wait until 12/18/18 or 11/18/18, which could be the tipping point for global warming then.

Perhaps two more appropriate candidates for "Dead Man's Hand" days are coming up in November and December (11/08/08 and 12/08/08)...

Since according to the legends a pair of black aces and black eights coupled with either a jack of diamonds or a queen of diamonds is it.

That would be a funky time too, since the times will be tense over what might happen during the last two months of this criminal regime!
