U.S. holding prisoners in crates

The U.S. military is using wooden crates, called "segregation boxes," to hold violent detainees in Iraq. Some of the boxes are only 3 feet by 3 feet by 6 feet -- barely big enough to hold an average Iraqi man. Human rights advocates have raised concerns, but the military says detainees in the boxes are being treated humanely.

1. Yeah, Sure. If You're a Dog
And dogs wouldn't be legally kept in the hot sun in a crate, neither.

Those crates look like a good place to imprison all of the BFEE after the war crimes trials find them all guilty.

Hey, it's just like a fraternity prank, eh BushCo?

even w/o the the possibility of martial law (i think that's pretty remote at this point), many Viet Nam veterens became peace officers once they were discharged.

we were freaky enough, i can't imagine what these *lenfant perdu* will be like on the street.

15. Good question.
I read your reply after I wrote mine. I'd like nothing better than to find out this isn't true and is just an exaggeration. My fear, based on previous evidence, is that it is probably true, but you raise a good point. None of those photos really depict the description in the article.

9. Didn't the Japanese put Alec Guiness in one of those in the Bridge on the River Kwai?
If it's good enough for Sir Alec, I'd say those Iraqis should count their lucky stars.

14. I don't see how this can be seen as anything
less than psychological and physical torture. That's all it is, plain and simple. This is what we (Americans) do now. How noble. How inspiring. How proud I am of what we do.

Why is this administration hell-bent on turning us into monsters? Is it them, are they doing this to America? Or is that what we really are? Are we victims of a corrupt and malicious administration, or are we a corrupt and malicious society? If this issue of "segregation boxes" was put up for a vote, would most Americans reject it out of disgust or would most accept it as the way to get things done? More and more, I get the feeling that way too many Americans don't give a shit what is done in their name as long as it doesn't seem to directly impact their lives.
