Whole lot of shaking going on - Aleutian Islands
My earthquake add-on in Firefox has been getting a workout this morning, thanks to quake activity in Alaska - the Aleutian Islands.

Since I installed this gadget, I've noticed the the Aleutian's get quite a bit of quake activity, but this morning it's going nuts. Hope all these little guys release some energy...

1. Fortunately, it looks as though they're small.

2. I used to live on Adak -- right in the middle of the Aleutians.
We had earthquakes all the time. Most of them were small tremors, but we had a few good shakers while I lived there.

One night after an earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued and everyone (there were only 4,000 people on the island) had to move to higher ground. One of the nearby volcanoes also erupted while we lived there.

It was a great place to be a kid!

3. 5.8 a bit ago...
From wiki:
5.0-5.9 Moderate Can cause major damage to poorly constructed buildings over small regions. At most slight damage to well-designed buildings. 800 per year

Good thing there isn't much out there.

4. In case you're wondering (I was!), only large quakes generally cause tsunami
usually 7 magnitude and up.

So it looks like the cubicle is safe for now.
