30. You said it. I find it funny that so many who haven't lived here will
defend an obvious crook. D or R, he's a criminal...on the record. I won't play the republicans' game.

21. I agree. It's been sad watching all this crap happen.
He came in with all those promises that Detroit was going to change, going to be better, and he was worse than most of the rest.

6. Kwame Kilpatrick went to Canada?
So he'll spend more time in jail for that than Scooter Libby ever did for compromising a spy's identity during war time.

16. She has the power to remove him; this gives her the proper political cover.
From today's Free Press:

Governor says she'll preside over Kilpatrick ouster hearing if necessary

LANSING -- Gov. Jennifer Granholm said Wednesday she would personally preside over public hearings in Detroit to oust Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick beginning Sept. 3, if she determines the hearings are necessary.

26. I grew up in Louisiana were most every city and parish has home rule
the state government doesn't have a say in the governing of the cities or parishes. Obviously the state has a say over how state money is spent by entities. Just an alien concept to me is all.

28. It may be an attempt,in Michigan at least ,
to stop City Councils from ousting mayors for frivolous reasons. Hence the need for the state to step in.

27. There are actually people defending this guy just because he has a (D)?
Amazing. He took a city on the verge of imploding, and kicked the process into overdrive. He's a textbook case of the lying, thieving politician. Should have been out long ago.

And, yes, Scooter and Rove and DeLay and Craig and the rest can join him.
