I love Rachel Maddow, but she is bringing me down.
She is always talking like Obama doesn't have a chance in hell of winning this election.

I can't stand that shit...

The MSM is doing their best to help McLame -- I don't need to hear it from Rachel.

WTF?

1. She's not the most optimistic person I've heard. She was freaked out that
Hillary would take it to the convention and screw up everything. She was convinced.

12. She's not the only person who worries about this:

18. I'm not worried. I think Hillary speaking on Tuesday will go a long way
to healing any rift.

2. Good.
The reTHUGs will suppress, intimidate, cheat, lie, purge, and use every trick in the book to try to STEAL this election, too.

I see Rachael as a warning beacon, cooling the elation whenever Obama gets us high on hope -- reminding us NOT TO GET COMPLACENT, and NOT to assume that we can win this election without a real fight.

13. Yep, exactly. She is also one of the most astute political minds on the television.
We would all be better served to pay attention.

16. I understand what you are saying, but to listen to Rachel it would
seem that Obama doesn't have a chance in hell.

I don't think that is being fair, either.

23. She's never said he doesn't have a chance, or anything like that!
Seriously, she's simply stated that if the election is mostly about Obama, rather than about McBush, Obama's chances of winning are seriously diminished.

I think she has a good point. She may not be right, but I think her instincts have been pretty good so far... even though she was unduly pessimistic about the likelihood about Hillary Clinton taking her primary fight to the convention, she was right when she laughed at those who said Hillary would drop out early. (And remember, there were a LOT of people who were just certain Hillary would drop out... remember?)

In short, take a break, Driver 8, you've been on this trip too lonnnng...

5. Nothing's happened yet...
...I think it is good that pundits don't set the expectations so high for Obama.

We cannot afford to lose this election, no one can afford for us to lose this election. We have to stay hungry and not underestimate the nastiness the GOP have in store for the fall.

Remember, this is technically still the summer.

6. Rachel and Thom have the same difficulty.
They are both analyticals. That makes it far easier for them to see the problems than the solutions. Being brilliant on top of that, they see a lot of problems and a lot of complexity, that leads at time to bitter cynicism. I'm sure that both she and Mr. Hartmann have hope and determination to win this mess, they just have long experience of shattered hopes too.

7. They don't want us to become complacement and take winning for granted
There are no guarantees, and given how good the GOP has gotten at stealing elections that can't be understated. We still have to work to get Obama elected.

9. She's bumming me out, too. The last time she said she thought McCain
would win, about a week ago, it really threw me into a funk that lasted for days. Remembering how utterly shell-shocked I was when Kerry "lost"...Go thru that again? No.I.Can't.

She utters the unspeakable. Does it do any good, really? I know we need to keep fighting and GOTV, but her doomsday pronouncements are very discouraging.

15. That's exactly how I feel. I get so depressed and feel like we
have already lost!!

I love Rachel, but I hate listening to her when she starts talking about McCain winning. It actually makes me sick to my stomach.

10. Rachel is great, but not always right. She said Hillary would fight all the way to the convention
and she has been saying for months that McCain would win. I think she just is looking at past elections they've stolen and is not optimistic that this one will be any different.

14. Liberal...Not Partisan
In her role as an analyist, she is attempting to present a liberal/progressive viewpoint, but also avoiding to be directly or overtly partisan. She wants to remain objective and she may over-compenstate to some tastes in how she view things, but I see it as a serious attempt at putting her own feelings aside from her work as an anaylsis. I don't think she's ever endorsed a candidate and I'd be surprised if she ever came out overtly in favor of Obama.

In "the day" I used to know many journalists who would operate this way...trying to call it straight and keep their own feelings/opinions out of their reporting. Some even avoided voting as not to appear in favor of one party or another. These days there aren't that many of these type of reporters/journalists around...and it's what makes Rachel unique and refreshing.

I don't think this elections in the bag...I've been down the rosy path one time too many and prefer to think that Obama is behind...never taking anything for granted and making me want to work harder to see him succede in November. This is an election for us to win...not to assume it'll fall in our laps.

19. Sadly, she is probably right. Most Repugs and a lot of Democrats simply won't vote for
a black man. I know that's not a very pc thing to say but it happens to be true, unfortunately.

And if we're not careful her predictions will be right.

22. Well, that's why she has David Bender around...
She acknowledges that she's a half-glass-empty kinda person, but she'll happily report news that reflects well on the Obama campaign.

Also, she's had very encouraging things to say about his recent attack ads.
