How many DUers are going to the Democratic National Convention in Denver?
ginbarn and I can't go, so I'm just curious as to how many of you are making the pilgrimage. Are you excited? Nervous? A convention veteran? A first-timer? Let's hear from y'all!

1. Well if I win a trip - backstage with Obama, I'll be there, otherwise
I can't go.

2. I'm not going, but the attorney down the hall is driving from NJ to Denver
with her 15 year old daughter "to be a part of history". Both are very excited.

3. Dang!
That's a lot of gas money, even with a hybrid! But I hope they enjoy themselves.

4. I wish! But I do have friends (a married couple) who are going as delegates.
He is an Obama delegate and she is a Clinton delegate.

5. Was bedeutet 'dort'?
Where people burn books, in the end people will also burn people.

My high school Deutsch is more than a bit rusty.

Also, I am not going to the convention, although it is fairly close, but here's a kick.

7. "Dort" means merely "there" in German
Although if you add an Umlaut, "dört" means "4" in Turkish

6. I'll be there, although I was warned not to go
By the DNC, no less. They said I was more than welcome as a senior Dexpat, but
that it would be a madhouse, with 35000 accredited and space for 18,000, and that
if I had any sense in my head, I would watch it from a couch in Dallas, and probably
get a better idea of what was going on, and this from Howard's #2 man!

But I haven't been to one of these things since I was 8, and I might not go to another
one, either, so I'm going. I went with my dad when John F. Kennedy was nominated.
Needless to say, I had little clue as to what was going on.

Last Friday, in an airport, someone recognized me (a rare enough occurrence) and
(re-)introduced himself, saying we would see each other at the convention in Denver.
Considering how many people will be there, I doubt it, but who knows? We just might!
