It's time to boycott ABC until they answer these three questions
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 09:32 AM by ck4829
Somebody tried to take advantage of this terrorist attack and committed acts of psychological warfare upon the American People. ABC, if you aren't going to reveal who the "Anthrax was from Iraq" sources are, you aren't protecting sources, you are protecting liars.

I agree with Greenwald and the increasing number of journalists that these 3 questions need to be asked of ABC.

But as the People, we should take it a step further, and boycott ABC until they reveal who these psychological terrorists are.

The Three Questions:

1. Sources who are granted confidentiality give up their rights when they lie or mislead the reporter. Were you lied to or misled by your sources when you reported several times in 2001 that anthrax found in domestic attacks came from Iraq or showed signs of Iraqi involvement?

2. It now appears that the attacks were of domestic origin and the anthrax came from within US government facilities. This leads us to ask you: Who were the "four well-placed and separate sources" who falsely told ABC News that tests conducted at Fort Detrick had found the presence of bentonite in the anthrax sent to senator Tom Daschle, causing ABC News to connect the attacks to Iraq in multiple reports over a five-day period in October, 2001?

3. A substantially false story that helps make the case for war by raising fears about enemies abroad attacking the US is released into public debate because of faulty reporting done by ABC News. How that happened and who was responsible is itself a major story of public interest. What is ABC News doing to re-report these events, to figure out what went wrong and to correct the record for the American people who were misled?

And all ABC has to do is answer them to prevent a boycott.

One note: Many of the ABC Radio stations were sold to Citadel Broadcasting, but ABC still controls ESPN Radio and Radio Disney outlets.

5. That's a hell of a list. Does one memorize it or just carry a copy of it?
Also, does anyone have a comprehensive list of all the people. places, and things that we are asked to boycott here at DU? I'm sure it could be put into pocket sized book form so we could have our DU boycott guide. Then again, it might be too big for a pocket.

6. It's Probably Easier To List Who We're Not Pissed At
Here's a great resource from PDA...

Finally, the Republican Party is funded primarily by greedy corporations. When you shop for products, why not support companies that support Democratic and progressive values?

Global Exchange
The Peace Company

The CJR page is excellent for finding who owns what...and every corporate media company is just as complex. That's what makes boycotting so difficult...you can't keep track of how many tenticles these monsters have.

Cheers...

8. I had thought of that and it might be more simple.
Over the years I have read of so many places we were asked to boycott or avoid. Many of these large business and corporations are so entangled with so much else that it is near impossible to sort it out or to remember it all. I believe that national boycotts are for a person's own satisfaction and are not really very effective in impacting a large business or corporation. Boycotts are just too unorganized and helter skelter. Locally is a different matter.

3. Good idea. Our local ABC affiliate's news organization has been taken
over by an aide to a very corrupt governor. I am afraid that our local ABC affiliate will start looking like Fox.

4. ABC: Sat on warrantless wiretapping; sat on DC Madam's "list"; sat on anthrax terror attack leads.
