Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 05:26 PM by sellitman
I know I am.

Therefore I am just as incensed when MOTHER EFFEN ASSHOLES here on the left post with glee about Robert Novaks troubles.

As a father who has fought the fight against Brain Cancer in his own son...it is never ok to poke jokes at those unfortunate enough to suffer from this horrible disease.

All who do are sub-human.

1. Outrageous assholes fall on all parts of the left/right political spectrum
It's a lot more difficult to be so heartless when you have watched a loved one die of brain cancer.

2. Thank you.
I always thought the left had better sense.

Seems I was just doing some wishful thinking.

3. well, i had cancer
and i had chemo & radiation & i thought alot about what was important in my life. and honesty & not hurting others became more important. so i hope he see how screwed up he has been---but i'm still angry about the damage he has done...i don't care if my cancer comes back , i made peace with that when i had it before. if he survives & changes, cool, if he changes & dies, thank GOD he saw himself. if he doesn't change , i could care less about him

8. I hope he has an epiffany too but...
I wish him well physically first.

No matter what his politics are.

No one deserves this affliction.

37. I survived cancer also and found its immediate aftermath more frightening
than the surgeries and chemotherapy. I had to develop a new definition of "peace of mind" and what accommodations I would have to make in my life to approach that experience, not all of those accommodations were pleasant or simple, but necessary to retain a semblance of sanity. Perhaps, Bob Novack will experience something similar?

18. I agree. Not just brain cancer though.
I watched my father die of lung cancer. He was a conservative republican. Politics matters nothing in the final struggle with cancer though.

Anyone rejoicing on either side (Kennedy or Novak) is scum.

36. I put family ties over politics every time
I have only one close family member that I have pretty much cut all ties with. My aunt stole a bunch of money from me about 15 years ago. Although I am pretty strongly anti-tobacco, I have sent her a carton of cigarettes for Christmas now and then.

31. Life threatening diseases should never be a point of celebration.
The man is a political tool but he does not deserve this disease and its side effects.

We on the left like to think we are the true compassionate ones.

We need to act the part.

Laughing when Bush wipes out on a Segway (sp?) is one thing, but cancer is...cancer. It's not so much a misfortune as an outright tragedy.

21. At first sight, you're right
But you're comparing apples with oranges.

Did Ted Kennedy ever do anything comparable to destroying a CIA network involved in tracking the proliferation of WMDS?

Sorry, dude, I compare Ted's sins (real, or ascribed to him by the GOP) against Novak's sins (actual) and there's no competition.

Despite that, I want Novak to get the very best of medical care. I hope he lives for another 30 years. IN FUCKING JAIL, where he deserves to be. I don't believe in an afterlife, so jail is the only place we can punish the evil fuckers.

29. A website I frequent at is mostly republican populated, and had a thread about Ted
Surprisingly most of the replies were very respectful of him. Usually with a "I dont like his politics, but I wish him well against the brain tumor". Their were a few who cheered for this, but were put down by the other members.

and just because it's brain cancer- it doesn't somehow absolve him of his prickish treasonous past acts.

sure- it's a horrible way to go- but the wars and policies that he's whole-heartedly supported from his own bully pulpit have led to some even more horrific deaths for plenty of innocents.

fuck him.
and part of me IS glad that he doesn't get a quick and painless finish.
