Trying to understand why the repuks are even close in this race
I mean, after 8 years of insanity.
The repuk candidate is so old he really can't remember shit.
And all the other factors that we here at DU are all to familiar with.
Why o why is this prez race even this close?
I'm afraid to think how this race would look if the repuks weren't running a half dead man.
What am I missing?
Is this country really automatically leaning "right"?
This really doesn't bode well for the future of the U.S.

12. Yes, it is VERY close and if we deny that we'll get it stolen like the last 2 times.
The only thing stupider than apathy is denial.

Your choice. I'm sure you knew Bush would win in 2000 and 2004, right?

cheap bastards. No monetary or emotional investment--except for the Oil Lobby, which can afford it.

6. If you really believe it's close, then you have been duped by the M$M
and the polsters.

If the general perception is, that it's a close race,
it's much easier to steal the election.

People have different values and interests and expectations around the country. The members of DU can hardly be considered an average grouping of society.

Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 04:28 PM by Virginia Dare
they will NEVER vote for a Democrat. I'm talking about the people who vote for whomever their minister/priest tells them to. Better to concentrate on other groups that you have a chance with.

20. Can you explain this?
How can it be close if 2.5 dems for every 1 repug voted in the primary up until McShame got the nomination?

With a margin like that it is inconceivable that a repug will win. p.s. just heard Rasmussen poll has Obama trailing!!!

Don't listen to the polls...look at the actual votes cast in the primaries. Listen to the people!

23. Uh...in primaries, -usually- Democrats run against Democrats and Republicans run against
Republicans. I know that concept is difficult to grasp but it does explain why primary results tell us absolutely nothing about what might happen in a general election.
:D

But if living in denial gets you through the day then go for it.

And is running to the right and not hitting the Republicans hard enough. Caving on FISA, on offshore drilling and any number of right-wing issues. This is the way we lose every time.

29. They own the media. The media has been selling McCain as the
aggressive maverick independent who wants to make them rich and Barack as the weak Liberal that will keep them from ever getting rich.

Taking lunch today at work I heard all this crap spewn up from all my colleagues. They think Republicans are going to lower their taxes and make them richer and Democrats are trying to stop them from being rich. It has no basis in reality, they think this because it is what the MSM tells them to think.

Look at the poorest states in this country. They are some of the reddest. They are the ones who should most be for an equitable change to the system. However they are going exactly opposite of their own interests and voting for the party that will keep them from ever getting any health care assistance or improvements in education. They go against their interests because the media tells them to.

It's the propaganda stupid.
