Who wants to live on the 160th floor?
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 01:04 AM by Liberal_in_LA
60 minutes had two segments regarding Dubai where the tallest building in the world is being
built. I don't see the attraction of living 100+ floors up.

(** edit **) the 2nd pic is a real pic of the building underconstruction. Look how much taller it is than the other towers. Good gawd!

1. That far up ...

... the common folks down on the ground appear to be about the same size as what the residents think of them. Just wait until those same "common folks" decide to do something about that.

2. Looks like that won't be a problem, since only the first 155 are really inhabited.

5. That's a long way to walk with a bucket
to fetch drinking water when the power goes out.

9. The elevators in a VA hospital where I worked were
constantly breaking down. It was bad enough having to trudge up to the eighth floor.

I can't imagine trudging up to the 160th floor...with full grocery bags...full of melting ice cream...

You know that floor will be serviced by a private elevator, too, and when it conks out, the people who wanted so much to be able to look down on everybody else will be stuck.

11. Not me.
Go over the edge, and you'll have far too much time to think on the way down.

14. As long as I had a parachute, emergency break windows,
AND a skyhook system with a loitering C-130 to snatch me out of my room ala some recent movie, sure.

Otherwise. Nah.
