If I reboot and browse DU with IE6, after about 15 minutes, DU is blocked...

If I reboot and use Firefox only, no problems.

On edit. See below. I lost DU in Firefox. Rebooting brings it back.

16. Same here...DU kept locking up. I use Firefox but just added that IE extender thingy

to Firefox yesterday because I wasn't able to access some pages in searches with Firefox alone. I thought that was the problem but it must be some glitch in DU that it keeps locking up.

I couldn't get DU to load at all this morning. After doing my morning chores I came back in, hit DU and voila!

21. I had problems with DU from around 9:00 GMT to 14:00 GMT

The problems may have extended outside of those times but prior to 9:00 I was asleep and after 14:00 I was out shopping. No other site on the Internet was giving me problems. This was a problem with the DU site/server.

There does appear to be a problem with Internet Exploder and various sites using sitemer.com and this can be fixed either by blocking content from sitemeter.com or switching to Firefox.

I recommend switching to Firefox anyway. Firefox 2 was better than IE (its only major failing was that it crashed almost as often as IE). Firefox 3 is better still and faster and almost never crashes even with intensive use. Oh, and Firefox complies with all relevant Internet and World Wide Web Consortium standards whereas IE goes out of its way to break them.

Actually, I'd recommend switching to Linux too. Why put money in Bill Gates' pocket for a pile of crap? But I can understand people not having facilities to back up all their data easily. However, if you have an old computer lying around that you rarely use, try Linux on that.

11. About 9:30 eastern, I had trouble ...clicked on DU in favorites,

my little flag waved in the breeze, would not load. Closed my internet connection, did errands and am now able to log on. Thought it was just me. In fact if anything goes wrong with the computer, no matter how simple, it is usually just me.

Plus spell check is mighty sloooooow.

First time I try connecting, all I get is "waiting for democraticunderground". I have to cut my connection and reconnect(I live in the country with dial up) Now it has dropped out in the middle of a session doing the same thing. All in all a bit odd. I wonder if the admins have made some sort of new upgrade or such.

I switch engines to IE and it works. It hangs up on FF and gives me a blank page. Is it some script?

I woke up. Logged on to DU, opened a post and ended up going to a linked article which to me to another linked article. . . . I was going from article to article I kept noticing DU reloading in the background. Every so often I'd get a message that I had lost my connection.

on edit: I'm running Foxfire. FWIW, I've been all over the internet and the only site that I have trouble connecting to is DU.
