Alaska: The Senator and the Oil Man
Alaska Senator Ted Stevens has been indicted for failing to disclose gifts he received from VECO, an Alaska-based oil services company. But his indictment is only the latest news -- and perhaps the tip of the iceberg -- in an ongoing political scandal that's rocking the state and Congress.

This week, NOW goes behind the breaking headlines to shine a bright light on the scandalous connection between VECO and Alaska's old-boy political network.

Big Oil, Big Influence
NOW features a web-exclusive report detailing how the oil and gas industry navigated Washington's power structures during the past eight years.

The article connects the dots between the industry's biggest spenders and the favorable policy outcomes they received. The report also exposes the connections between Big Oil and certain 2008 presidential candidates.

A NOW Online special investigative report.

1. Too bad this didn't come up in September
When he couldn't get his name off the ballot.

I know that may sound weasely.
But, I'd love to take the Alaskan senate seat.

And a scandal ridden candidate on the ballot would probably have helped Obama as well.

Nothing like having two dead-weight scandal ridden losers (Stevens and Young) on the ballot helping drag down the decrepud coot at the top.

7. The other R's are a lot less well-known than Begich who is very popular
and squeaky clean.

6. Heh, got to see some of my old stomping grounds. Great program and
it really sounds like Palin may be all right. I was visiting last summer when Anderson went down and me and my buddies were yucking it up to the big-time.

BTW- Ben Stevens....Oh Ben....ready for your bright orange jump suit, son?
