Than most countries with universal healthcare. Expense is not the only problem with medicine in the US.

3. Did he say "the greatest" or "one of the greatest"?
We may rank at the bottom of the industrialized world, but if we compare ourselves to the entire world, we'd be very high on the list. There's a big difference between the two statements.

4. I've said it a brazillion times.. Lou is an OPPORTUNIST
he's not on "our side". He's hawking his book & his show.

He's a libertarian at heart.

Lou's very happy with HIS coverage and care because he's GOT good insurance.

Let's see ole Lou as night manager at a mall-store with no insurance and a $10 hr wage and see how happy he would be with it.

6. Clarification: He was upset because he said that system is NOT available to everyone
I'm not a Dobbs defender, but I must credit him on this one - he was very upset that w/the "greatest" medical system in the world, we have so many Americans who can get no piece of it.

He said very clearly "we should be taking care of the people".

Anyway, carry on.

8. That's the way I read his response
I believe he was saying that it is reprehensible that healthcare is not provided to everyone not that our system is great.

7. you are misquoting him
he is saying for those who can afford it and for the poor and elderly on medicaid and medicare. It's the middle class who he's talking about that are left out in the cold. They fall between the cracks and he's right.

9. If you mean well-trained doctors and technology, yes
If you mean access to it, not even close.

10. For whom? Certainly not for me.
I am not allowed quality healthcare by default due to my low position on the economic totem pole.

14. We always have "The Greatest (fill in the blank)"
Take your pick! Greatest Education! Greatest Healthcare! Greatest Democracry! Greatest Military! Greatest Economy! You name it, and we have the greatest of it.

So why are so things so fucked up and on the edge of collapse? It's the constant diet of rose-colored rhetoric we keep getting fed.

15. I saw it, too
He said it's a scandal that in such an advanced country, with the best healthcare system in the worl , not EVERYONE has healthcare.

He was almost saying we need universal healthcare. I say kudos to Lou on this one. He also said that the reason Congress doesn't do anything for working Americans is because they are "owned, lock, stock, and barrel, but multinational corporations."
