After blathering on about how we must win in the Middle East and destroy the terrorists, Bush slipped up and said this "The war on terror we fight today is a generational struggle that will continue long after you and I have turned our duties over to others."

Remember the big peace dividend we were going to see at the end of the Cold War? The only way we were ever going to see that was if we had had the guts to disassemble our military economy. It sounds to me like the military industrial complex has latched on to another Golden Goose that's even better than the fight against Communism ever was. Now we have an enemy who is always waiting to harm us and is too nebulous to ever beat. If nothing happens, that proves we're winning and must maintain eternal vigilance.
