I think we need mandatory health-ometers strapped to every American
Every time they eat a BigMac or smoke a cigarette, the health-ometer lets out a painful, but harmless jolt.

Then we can tool it up to punish watching bad TV, or reading OK! magazine.

Hey - we could even tune it up to jolt anyone who says 'um' more than three times in a sentence, or fails to use the Oxford Comma...

The possibilities are endless.

Remember - Big Brother always knows best!

:sarcasm:

We humans can't watch ourselves without some benevolent department looking after us.

2. If it can be tuned to emit a jolt when...
...people vote for Republicans, start droning on about how they have "nothing against" black people, or use the word "gay" in a pejorative sense, I might be in favor.

4. Seems that there would be several on this site that would approve
of this idea actually.

6. I know - scary no?
I'm all for banning cigarette smoking indoors because second hand smoke in an unventilated room kills. Outside, different story.

But even as an ex smoker, I am against new cig taxes. One, it won't do any good and is a bad tax base. Less people smoke every year, due to death or quitting, and kids aren't picking it up that quickly anymore. The education campaign worked (take that GOP, saying Government can't do anything!) But two, you are punishing someone for their opinion. IF they aren't smoking indoors, they aren't harming anyone but themselves.

Now some folks want to take this to the fast food industry. Excuse me? The cigarette companies blatantly lying about the product is one thing, but McDonalds never said their food was the key to health. In fact, they advertise it as a treat - some place to take the soccer team to to celebrate a win. As a treat, McDonalds is benign. As a staple, well we all saw Morgan Spurlock's movie.
