CNN talking points today: Why is Obama
only 5 or 6 points ahead of McCain in the polls? That was the theme for Wolfie, now Lou Dobbs is worried about the same thing. A couple days ago they were sighting a poll where Obama was 9 points ahead and had him winning in a walk. Now today they're all in a twitter about him only be 5 points ahead. The cable TV news networks are all mindless BS, gawd they make me sick.

1. Isn't 5-6 points actually pretty significant in presidential elections? (nt)

14. They are giving credit to suspect numbers they provide.
After the hideous polling season they had during the primaries, I can't see why any of these polls should be taken seriously at all right now.

2. Consider this -
Polls, in the best of times, are essentially worthless. But, this far in advance of Election Day, they really are, no matter how well-written they might be, are meaningless.

Remember, these leeches have nothing else to talk about so they pretend that the polls mean something. Sort of the same way they tell themselves that they have meaning. They don't. Neither do the polls.

Ignore them.

5. I pretty much ignore the cable news channels any more
just happened to tune in for information on the CA earthquake. Many people I know watch Faux like 24 hours a day and their minds are totally f---ed up they actually believe Faux is "fair and balanced." Gawd I get sick of hearing that slogan and the one "we report you decide" what bullshit.

8. A dangerous drug
Faux News. I've watched it for a few minutes at a time, and that's about my limit. Stupidity just makes me queasy.

The people who watch that stuff are, I am convinced, just happy that they found a place that reinforces their ignorance, bigotry, and fear.

I'm with you about ignoring cable news. I watch "Countdown" and, occasionally, "Hardball," but, for the most part, it's all crap.

6. Great point and something that should be heard more often so that McCain
doesn't get cast as the poor underdog.

7. Yeah, this is getting so old. Why is the straight shooter behind with all of his honesty and
excellent military war hero service. His maverick style of politics, his working with both parties. The media for so long said we needed someone from the outside, that is what the people want, someone new. We get him, he draws huge crowds, walks the presidential walk, nope, not enough, they keep raising the bar higher, he is too inexperienced, the people don't know him, now he is not presidential but arrogant. Barack walks the walk, talks the talk but the media doesn't get it.

4. Entertainment by its very nature tends to be an exaggeration of real life . . .
That's why the infotainment media that has replaced journalism in American always sounds hysterical, has the attention span of a mayfly, is without memory, and continually exhibits the bowerbird's fascination with whatever shiny thing comes into its view.

It's scary, and very dangerous.

And why managing the ADHD sheep that make up the MSM has become at least as big a job for campaigners as communicating with voters.

Disgusting, really, and rather demoralizing. It takes a strong stomach to be in politics today (for entirely different reasons than strong stomachs have always been required in politics).

9. Is anybody asking why McCain is behind?
Obama's AHEAD for crissakes!!!!! Where is the problem? Are they suggesting that something is wrong just because OBAMA (NOT McCain) is winning the popularity contest right now and will probably win in November? A Democrat winning? Gasp! How awful!!! And only 5-6 points ahead??? Egad!!!! Can't have THAT now, can we? :sarcasm:

*The pundits really appear to be frightened out of their wits that somebody other than a Republican might win in November and they seem to be going batshit crazy about it.

13. Why hasn't the media asked mccain the question...
...since rove is one of his advisors, 'do you think it's right that karl rove disregards subponeas?'

No one has asked mccain that one yet.

15. Chuckie T. on Hairball/MSNBC debunked this last night
He says that pollsters are only reaching older people, and it is the middle of the summer, everyone is on vacation. He thinks the polls are off.
