I have a dot on my t.v. screen that is right
beside the msnbc peacock logo. When they go to commercial, the dot stays there on the screen through most of the commercials. I don't see it on other channels. Any idea what it is? I have on of those skinny screen t.v.s

3. Don't know why they would. I just noticed it in the last
week during commercials, then this evening I noticed a dot beside the peacock logo so I kept my eye on it and it's the same one on the screen in the commercials. Not on other channels though..just msnbc.

7. My daughter spotted one too the other night.
But we dont' have an LCD screen. Hmmmmm.

It stayed on the screen, in the bottom right corner, for about five minutes and then just went away.

4. A stationary logo
on one of the channels may have burned the screen. Unwise to leave LCD flatscreens on the same channel for more than 2 hours according to the instructions on my new one.

20. Uh, LCD screens can not burn in like the old CRT (tube) kind.
I wonder who wrote the instructions? :wtf: :silly:

21. While the LCD screens cannot burn like the old CRT screens, them most assuredly can
retain "burn" an image. The fix is to unplug them for two or three days.

22. Yes I meant to say that - it is a temporary (and fairly rare) phenomenon
that can be easily 'fixed'...unlike the actually 'burned' phosphor on the front of a vacuum cathode ray tube.
:D

32. I didn't mean burn literally - as in CRTs.
Just a persistent after image. It would be fair to assume that the manufacturer wrote the instructions. :sarcasm:

5. Something funky on MSNBCs end.
DH pointed it out the other day - said it's been there for a while. I grumbled because now I keep seeing it, where I never noticed it before - LOL.

6. Sounds like a digital glitch. If it is not on all channels/programs it is coming
(or not coming) from M$NBC. Just a tiny piece of the picture that is not broadcast.

Only on MSNBC, and it's there during commercials as well.

I figured it had to be an MSNBC thing, but I'm surprised it's lasted as long as it has.

23. Okay I see it now...it's way bigger than a pixel so it has to be intentional.
Well maybe not, I guess it could be a failed IC somewhere in their video processing that just affects that small area...but it definitely is unique to M$NBC...

...it looks like a © (copyright symbol) added after the fact and separate from the regular logo bug.

Added because there wasn't one and until there is one, but that may be too difficult to add/remove every time commercials come on.

If they wanted to be track people who copy the program off the air, there are other ways they could do it without anyone knowing it was there.

Please remove your tin foil hat to its original, upright position.

27. We noticed it last week ... and the MSNBC logo partially obscures its brightness...
When it goes to a commercial without the MSNBC logo you can see it brightly against a dark background.

Surely MSNBC employees have been aware of this for days. Not to fix it indicates that it is intentional. Why? I have no idea....

35. Turn your teevee OFF permanently and the 'spot' shall be gone
SPOILER....the 'spot' is blood (of many others) ;-)

Doctor:
What is it she does now? Look how she rubs her hands.

Gentlewoman:
It is an accustom'd action with her, to seem thus
washing her hands. I have known her continue in this a quarter of
an hour.

Lady Macbeth:
Yet here's a spot.

Doctor:
Hark, she speaks. I will set down what comes from her, to
satisfy my remembrance the more strongly.

Lady Macbeth:
Out, damn'd spot! out, I say!—One; two: why, then
'tis time to do't.—Hell is murky.—Fie, my lord, fie, a soldier, and
afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our
pow'r to accompt?—Yet who would have thought the old man to
have had so much blood in him?

Macbeth Act 5, scene 1, 26–40
Lady Macbeth, as has become her wont, sleepwalks through the royal castle. As her waiting-woman and her doctor listen in, she mutters fragments of an imaginary conversation that recalls the night she and her husband conspired to murder King Duncan . The hour is two o'clock; she upbraids her husband for his bad conscience; she insists that there will be nothing to fear once they've grabbed the crown; she marvels at how much blood Duncan had to shed. As Lady Macbeth replays this scene for the eavesdroppers, she not only incriminates herself, but also reveals the pangs of conscience she had ridiculed in her husband.

"Out, damn'd spot" is a prime example of "Instant Bard," tailor-made for ironic jokes and marketing schemes. But the "spot" isn't a coffee stain, it's blood. One motif of Macbeth is how tough it is to wash, scrub, or soak out nasty bloodstains. Macbeth had said that even the ocean couldn't wash his hands clean of Duncan's blood; Lady Macbeth, who scorned him then, now finds the blood dyed into her conscience. The king and queen persist in imagining that physical actions can root out psychological demons, but the play is an exposition of how wrong they are.

Themes: murder and assassination, guilt

36. Its simple,
Cheney has directed the government staff to only watch faux news.
He has embedded a Bright pixel on the MSNBC logo.
Since they use only the more expensive plasma screens that over time leave a burn mark,
all underlings watching countdown will be outed.
