Perfectly Legal and Free Lunch by David Cay Johnston, a tax expert who writes for the NYT. He's written two books that describe how the U.S. tax code has been revised to provide outrageous benefits to wealthy individuals and businesses and how middle and lower class taxpayers (who are not eligible for the same tax breaks) end up paying for more of the burden than was originally intended by the tax code. Either book will make you want to phone your member of Congress the next day.
