Well, I felt like a complete shmuck, but I did it.

Got a call today from an environmental group who wasn't asking for money, but instead was asking that I let them patch me into my local representative and tell him not to support drilling in ANWR and to support let out some of the national reserves instead, partially because it would help now instead of months or years down the road.

My Representative is Sensenbrenner. You can imagine how this went over.

And since I was caught by surprise, and hadn't had my coffee yet, my half of the conversation went something like "Um, I'd just like to say that, um, I'd like Rep. Sensenbrenner to not support... drilling in the national reserve and ... uh, ... to support releasing some of the oil reserves, um, instead"

Pathetic.

They took down my name and address and thanked me in a monotone for my comment.
