Does anyone here think that the underwhelming performance
of congressional Democrats will have any effect on the November election.

1. A lot of people here think that.

That's why we'll not have a landslide victory when we should pick up a dozen seats in the senate and a few dozen in the house.

Edit: not because people here think it but because much of the electorate does.

2. Underwhelming?
Some seem to forget that anything the Democrats try to do has to go through the Senate where Republicans still have enough votes to put a stop to it. And Bush never vetoed a damn thing until Democrats got control in 2006.

4. Thank you. DU has a bad habit of ignoring Congressional Republicans..
Who are currently much more than half the problem.

5. i think i would like it

if the congressional democrats did the right thing more often, and make dubya veto.
i'm not dismissing the fact that our majority is razor thin. but damn it does seem like every time we reach a goal the goal gets moved.
we have to have a majority, then we have to have a veto proof majority. what next, we can't make a real push for anything until we have the white house and a filibuster proof majority. i think that's bullshit. jmho but it almost seems like our congressional majority is looking for excuses and cya opportunities more than solutions. the congressional democrats should be making the repubs obstruct or veto as much as possible to really underscore whose interests the repubs really have at heart.

8. Poor Harry Reid, having to deal with those lying vultures for a living.
What an awful time to be leader.

9. There are a LOT of Dem traitors voting with those Republicans
Like Obama did on the FISA bill. It would have passed anyway but why didn't he vote against it? Also the Blue Dog and DLC traitors vote with the Pukes as often as not, so really much of the blames goes to the Repub-lites among the Democrats.

3. I think this is deliberate.
If the Democrats were to win the landslide they should, they would be expected to make the changes that we require. When they don't, they would have no excuses and would pay the price. This is a delicate balance of seizing power while leaving themselves an out for the inaction their masters demand.

7. Did you notice that the minimum wage increased today?
IF that was all the Democratic Congress did, it would be an improvement over the last 2 terms. They have done much, much more. Educate yourself.
