I thought the one thing Rice was actually supposed to be competent in was Russia and cold war dynamics.

8. You don't need a doctorate to understand the dynamics here.
That's what makes it so ridiculous.
Any 4th grader knows that if one tough kid pushes another tough kid, the kid that got pushed is gonna push back - twice as hard. That's why Putin is talking to Cuba AND Venezuela.
They have the Midas touch in reverse. Instead of gold, everything they touch turns to shit.

9. Putin is a shrewd badass, not an out of control ideolouge.
He will likely manipulate and embarrass us, not bomb us.
Bush is going to help Putin make Bush look stupid.
