and what the refineries had to pay for it. I think it's remarkable that Smirky gave that speech and almost instantly the price per barrel went down so fast. He shoulda given that magic speech months ago.

(well before they've purchased any of the more expensive gasoline.) But they only reduce it long after they've actually purchased the cheaper gasoline.
These practices would not be possible in a truly competitive market.
