The Anatomy Of A Smear Campaign.
Today, out of desperation or because they know nothing else, the McCain campaign unleashed an all-out attack against Barack Obama. It started early in the morning with an attack upon Michelle Obama. They recycled their old "proud of my country" ad they had used before.

Then, just a couple of hours later, in front of a group of supporters, McCain said that Obama was more liberal than the only "socialist" in the Senate, Bernie Sanders. He did not say it as words of praise.

In between those attacks, he ran his new attack ads criticizing Obama for not going to Iraq and Afghanistan before he made any decisions about his policies.

To top off the day, Mr McCain let loose with some treasonous information about Obama's schedule while he was visiting those dangerous areas. It was a total breakdown in judgment, if it was not intentional? Josh Marshall and others have pointed out lack of judgment in this dastardly act. And the day is not over yet...

2. Unless the orders go out to the commanding officers...
To keep their troops under control. Do not permit any outward emotion or enthusiasm because of the political impact it might have back home. It may be "misinterpreted". It will be very easy to manipulate...unless he is booed, then they can show that.

3. Troops just aren't that controllable - especially guard units and reservists.
Obama and Clinton polled very well in Iraq with the troops.

4. We shall see...
The fact that all the major networks are traveling with Obama might make it a little more difficult to control? I don't doubt that they might try.
