DNC has breakthrough fundraising month in June
By Aaron Blake

The notoriously underfunded Democratic National Committee (DNC) turned in a strong month in June, announcing Thursday that it raised more than $22 million and upped its cash on hand to more than $20 million.

The DNC has lagged far behind the Democrats’ House and Senate campaign committees, as the latter two have accelerated their fundraising and outpaced Republicans, thanks in large part to the party’s new majority status.

But having Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) wrap up the nomination in early June appears to have freed things up for the DNC, which raised twice as much in June as it did in the two previous months combined.

The committee raised only about $4.8 million in both May and April. It had just $4 million in cash on hand as of May 31.

6. $52 million in June is the report I got on the radio
but oddly, they say the RNC & McCain have $2 million more on hand than does the DNC & Obama.

but they didn't mention the house and Senate committees in the totals.

7. I made my first ever donation this month.
I then sent this note via the website:

"I just made my first contribution to the Democratic Party. I have
donated to candidates before, but never the party because I have felt that
for my adult life, the national party has pretty much ignored Texas as
"unwinnable." Now, thanks to Dr. Dean and Barack Obama, I feel that
it is time for me to start to contribute to the party. Please continue
to pursue the 50 state strategy. It is essential to help us build
party infrastructure and help our local and state races."

8. Excellent, Lisa. I will do likewise instead of tearing their pledge
cards up :hide:, with a note of encouragement.
