XM dumps Lionel and changes channel 167 to America Left.
They've finally changed the name from Air America to America Left, which is much more appropriate. The new line-up from XM's site (times are for the central time zone.)

12:00 AM - 1:00 AM Clout
1:00 AM - 3:00 AM This is America
3:00 AM - 5:00 AM Thom Hartmann
5:00 AM - 7:00 AM Bill Press
7:00 AM - 9:00 AM Young Turks
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Stephanie Miller
11:00 AM - 2:00 PM Air America wih Ed Schultz
2:00 PM - 5:00 PM Randi Rhodes
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Rachel Maddow
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Thom Hartmann
9:00 PM - 11:00 PM Mike Malloy
11:00 PM - 12:00 AM Clout

Oddly, they're saying Schultz is AAR, and of course he isn't.

This is an improvement, I like Cenk and Steph and found Lionel totally unlistenable. I'd rather they put Hartman in his proper time slot and shove Shultz later, but this is still better.

5. Some will say what do you expect, it's Boston, but Rush is 12th
in his time spot. Jim Braude and Margery Eagen beat him almost 2-1 on WTTK. Consolidation of radio ownership is the only reason he still has a show in Boston.

2. I like that lineup
I'm not a big Lionel fan either, though I can usually listen to him.

3. Good-freakin'-bye, Lionel!
Since they only have 3 AAR hosts left on 167, I guess they couldn't call it "Air America" anymore.

I stopped listening to Lionel months ago - absolutely THE WORST interviewer I've EVER heard!:puke:

6. GOOD!
I can't stand him - if in the car, switch to Potus unless have yet another full hour of McCain babbling - then switch to music.

Like Stephanie - but not for the whole show - becomes a bit tiresome after a while.

9. The schedule is from the XM site. And if you'd read the OP, the times are CENTRAL.

11. Me too. But someone like novaM or even AAR is going to have to give him a microphone.
And a decent time slot. I actually think XM could put more than one "left" channel up and do well. Other lesser known radio voices like DUer Guy James could use more exposure.

13. HOPEfully when XM and Sirius merge, they'll have two channels then and not shrink them to one!

Let's see, if we take XM's current schedule (converted to PST :) ):

12:00 AM - 1:00 AM This is America
1:00 AM - 3:00 AM Thom Hartmann
3:00 AM - 5:00 AM Bill Press
5:00 AM - 7:00 AM Young Turks
7:00 AM - 9:00 AM Stephanie Miller
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Air America wih Ed Schultz
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM Randi Rhodes
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Rachel Maddow
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thom Hartmann
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Mike Malloy
9:00 PM - 11:00 PM Clout
11:00 PM - 12:00 AM This is America

and Sirius Left's current schedule:

12:00 AM - 3:00 AM Lynn Samuels
3:00 AM - 6:00 AM Bill Press
6:00 AM - 9:00 AM Alex Bennett
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM Thom Hartmann
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Lynn Samuels
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Ed Schultz
2:00 PM - 5:00 PM Mark Thompson
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Stephanie Miller
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Mike Malloy
9:00 PM - 12:00 AM Thom Hartmann

If we can combine these in to two channels, perhaps something like:

Left Channel 1:
12:00 AM - 1:00 AM Bernie Ward (from KGO if he can be "freed")
1:00 AM - 3:00 AM Ray Taliafierro
3:00 AM - 6:00 AM Bill Press
6:00 AM - 9:00 AM Alex Bennett (maybe move him)
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Thom Hartmann
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM Randi Rhodes
3:00 PM - 6:00 PM Mark Thompson
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Mike Malloy
9:00 PM - 10:00 PM Democracy Now
10:00 PM - 12:00 AM Bernie Ward (from KGO if he can be "freed")

Left Channel 2:
12:00 AM - 1:00 AM - This is America
1:00 AM - 3:00 AM - Lynn Samuels (this is the only spot she deserves, IF ANY!)
3:00 AM - 6:00 AM The Young Turks
6:00 AM - 9:00 AM Stephanie Miller
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Ed Schultz
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM Peter B. Collins
3:00 PM - 6:00 PM Rachel Maddow
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Democracy Now
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Mike Newcomb (or Mike Feder)
9:00 PM - 11:00 PM Clout
11:00 PM - 12:00 PM This is America

Some of these slots could be repeats instead of the newer "live" shows. I think this would help not have many three hour shows shortened down to two, and also try to get them in their live slots too. Though this would move the Young Turks again. I'd like to find a slot or two for Sam Sedar or Mark Maron and take out folks like Lynn Samuels.
