I love these fwds by my right wing friends
I just got one that says did you know that Iraq has a Navy?
That it has Higher Education Institutions Blah Blah Blah
liberal media Blah Blah Blah

Which is why I just posted this on my blog

www.jimmyjubes.com

“The Liberal Media”. This is something that is constantly bombarded into the subconscious by a media that is quite frankly the purveyor of racism, warmongering, and corporate welfare. It is a misdirection that I liken to the husband who cheats on his wife and then accuses her of affairs. One needs only to flip through the cable news networks and see how pathetic they make the poor look , demonic they make people of color , and how they turn into outcasts the real critics of this administration. These hatemongers “awaken the American Dream” by putting to bed the dreams of those who wish to share in it and demonizing a people. They sell you that fair and balanced means balancing the negative news about this administration with a counterpoint. Yes they are the puppet masters that marched public opinion to go along with a very wrong war and use race the way the administration used religion to keep the word controllers in power.
I know I have stated that if John Kerry said, “I would have voted the same way unless our President was of the same mindset as George Bush and I apologize for my vote,” he would have won. But that is giving the percentage of the public who are basically automatons a little more credit than they deserve. That is saying that the sheepish few who oscillate wildly because of lack of free thought could see garbage when it is thrown at them. The truth of the matter is that every single so-called liberal network for two straight months told the public that a war hero left behind his comrades and didn’t deserve medals of honor. Something that the Navy said was untrue.

Every time I hear the liberal media bias line I think of the countless channels that cater to the 33 percent lunatic fringe on the right. The Bill O’Rightwing Council of Coawardice, Sean Insanity in Holmes, Rush Low Low Limbaugh, Jeff Feck, The Fox Network, CNN Network and so much more. That is not counting radio which harbors cretins who even call themselves Savage. They are the merchants of hate that rally the cry of every cemented mind. The stations that the K.K.K. has on night and day and they give useless minds a purpose. These jokes, um I mean jocks ghostwrite the thoughts of those who cannot come up with ones of their own.
For two weeks Fox News, CNN, MSNBC etc. found offensive words that were not said by Barrack Obama, not said by his family members, but his pastor. Now Is this all they have ? Couldn’t they hire a stripper to say she had sex with Obama and cover that story for two months to drive his numbers down. We all have people around us who say outrageous things. I certainly am not of the same thinking of that of my friends who think we should just bomb everyone in the middle east. (Yes, I live in an area where a lot of those 33 percent lunatics live and unfortunately a good deal of them are close to me.) I shouldn’t be guilty by my association. Nor should Barack Obama be. Who is next? What is next?
And let’s talk once again about misdirection. The best way to diffuse a story is to tell a little lie with many truths. Put the lie out there and lace it with the actual true story. For instance if Insane in the McCain is in bed with lobbyists why not make it literal too? Because no one would believe the literal, who would want to hear the story again? You tried to make it salacious so who cares if lobbyist are in his back pocket, they aren’t in his front pocket. Ah so the real story goes away. It is the same thing we had with CBS four years ago. The real story was that the president pulled strings to get out of serving, the same president that lied to get us into a war. But in the end it was how the little lie diffused the true story. The story about how leaders can tell us who are enemies are but are never the ones to fight and to die for their country.
Remember what the liberal media was calling people who didn’t believe Iraq had weapons of mass destruction? Conspiracy theorist, crazies.
Last, look what the media did to Hillary Clinton for the last year. You don’t have to be a Clinton supporter to realize that she went from front-runner to losing the nomination all because of the negative press. There is no doubt she would have defeated McCain handily. Now should Obama lose it will not be the racists who cost him the election (maybe the racist media) but the inner-racists. The racists will vote for Insane In The McCain anyway— it’s the people who look for a reason to not vote for Obama. And the media will do all they can to help that happen. Buy yourself a New Yorker, it went on sale yesterday.

1. Sometimes they really are kind of liberal...
Edited on Tue Jul-15-08 03:17 AM by B.S. Lewis
...for corporate news.

I haven't read Manufacturing Consent all the way through, but I read the first part of it, and I like the way that Chomsky and Hermann analyze the "liberal media" claims. Basically, within the extremely narrow range of opinion deemed acceptable by the corporate ownership, the reporters really *do* try to inject their (mostly liberal) personal sensibilities.

But there is no ability to question the fundamentals of American society. So liberal-leaning reporters can advocate for "compassionate capitalism" as opposed to the more ruthless, corporatist kind. But imagine us considering the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granma_(newspaper)">Granma unbiased because it allows its reporters the 'freedom' to express their preferences for "compassionate communism" over the more ruthless, statist kind!

Reporters may be largely liberal, but as institution the corporate news media are conservative in their very DNA.

2. The method I have found to combat these "forwards"
is to take some time, take them apart and since very few folks take steps to hide the email addresses of everyone they forward them to, do a reply to all.

The latest I got was titled "This Says It All...."

Enclosed was a side by side photo of the "younger years" featuring John in a Flight Suit with a Navy Fighter behind him and Barack in what I assume to be some clothing from his time in Indonesia or his trip to Africa which in either case looked alot like the NYer Cover.

My response was (reply to everyone)
"Sender (name withheld to protect the guilty) -- This is really beneath you....." going on to point out just a few to John's issues that might make him a bit less than perfect in the eyes of the RW and offering to supply more.

I got an apology and no more (yet) emails of this type from her.

8. Thanks this actually was the fwd I got --really stupid
We seem to be at the mercy of an evil media--we only know what they want us to know!!
Did you know?

I didn't know!
How could we?

Did you know that 47 countries' have
reestablished their embassies in Iraq ?

Did you know that the Iraqi government
currently employs 1.2 million Iraqi people?

Did you know
that 3100 schools have been renovated,
364 schools are under rehabilitation,
263 new schools are now under construction;
and 38 new schools have been completed in Iraq ?

Did you know
that Iraq 's higher educational structure consists
of 20 Universities, 46 Institutes or colleges and 4 research centers,
all currently operating?

Did you know
that 25 Iraq students departed for the United States in
January 2005 for the re-established Fulbright program?

Did you know
that the Iraqi Navy is operational?
They have 5 - 100-foot patrol craft,
34 smaller vessels and a naval infantry regiment.

Did you know
that Iraq ' s Air Force consists of three operational squadrons,
Which includes 9 reconnaissance and 3 US C-130 transport aircraft
(under Iraqi operational control) which operate day and night,
and will soon add 16 UH-1 helicopters and 4 Bell Jet Rangers?

Did you know
that Iraq has a counter-terrorist unit and a Commando Battalion?
Did you know
that the Iraqi Police Service has over 55,000
fully trained and equipped police officers?
Did you know
that there are 5 Police Academies in Iraq
that produce over 3500 new officers every 8 weeks?

Did you know
there are more than 1100 building projects going on in Iraq ?
They include 364 schools, 67 public clinics, 15 hospitals,
83 railroad stations, 22 oil facilities, 93 water facilities
and 69 electrical facilities.

Did you know
that 96% of Iraqi children under the age of 5
have received the first 2 series of polio vaccinations?

Did you know
that 4.3 million Iraqi children were enrolled in primary school by mid October?

Did you know
that there are 1,192,000 cell phone subscribers in Iraq
and phone use has gone up 158%?

Did you know
that Iraq has an independent media that consists of
75 radio stations, 180 newspapers and 10 television stations?

Did you know
that the Baghdad Stock Exchange opened in June of 2004?
Did you know
that 2 candidates in the Iraqi presidential election had a
televised debate recently?

OF COURSE WE DIDN'T KNOW!
WHY DIDN'T WE KNOW?
BECAUSE OUR MEDIA WON'T TELL US!

Instead of reflecting our love for our country,
we get photos of flag burning incidents at Abu Ghraib
and people throwing snowballs at the presidential motorcades.
Tragically, the lack of accentuating the positive
in Iraq serves two purposes:

It is intended to undermine the world's perception
of the United States thus minimizing consequent support;
and it is intended to discourage American citizens.

Above facts are verifiable on the Department of Defense web site.

Did you know?

Why I didn't know
But I know now.....
.......Pass it on! Give it a Wide Dissemination!
