1. I think this is good. He would have pulled from Coleman and Franken,
but I think it would have hurt Franken more. Any way, it would have made it tougher for Franken.

4. Thanks for hanging in
I happened to pass King and saw "Breaking News" and stood there with the remote for a minute and a half and said the hell with it and turned on HGTV.

I didn't have a clue what he was or wasn't planning to run for. Interesting.

12. Ventura is an egomaniac
Edited on Mon Jul-14-08 09:10 PM by ocelot
who, once the novelty of a ex-wrestler governor wore off, proved to be incompetent, bad-tempered and both unwilling and unable to do the hard work of being a governor. Jesse was only ever in it for his own ego, and spent much of his term involving himself in show business deals. He absolutely sucked.

Franken, despite his former career as a comedian, is in fact a very smart, well-informed, serious guy. I met him after Wellstone was killed -- I was extremely impressed with both his knowledge and his passion. He's NOTHING like Ventura at all.

14. With Jesse it's hard to tell.
He does so much self-promoting that you never quite know where he stands. He opposes the Iraq war, but he's really kind of a libertarian. He is especially opposed to government regulations that affect HIM. For example, he didn't like the license renewal fee in effect in MN when he was Governor because he thought it cost him too much to license his Hummer. Yeah, he drove a Hummer; he nearly ran my brother off the road with it.

15. Okay. He opposes the Iraq war and the licensing of Hummers.
Please provide more detail on the "he nearly ran my brother off the road" incident. Was a police report filed?

Thanks.

16. It wasn't serious enough
to warrant a police report -- as I understand it he (Jesse) came barreling out of a side road in the Hummer and my brother had to swerve to avoid him. Basically, he just scared him and pissed him off, and he (my brother) just drove away, fuming. If I remember correctly this may actually have occurred shortly after Jesse wasn't governor any more -- it's been awhile.

Not a big deal, but it seemed kind of typical of the way Jesse conducted himself as Governor -- did what he wanted without much consideration for anybody else.
