Poll question: What is the worst thing the media can do?
I'm going to restrict this poll to things that can be done by the GOP-controlled media, not what an individual can do, but what can be published or broadcast.

POST-EDIT DISCLAIMER:

This is not a scientific poll, it is for conversational purposes. Remove the stick up your ass before voting. Or, don't i don't care what you people think anyway; I know I'm right.

6. Other: what they are (not) doing right now - underreporting the war, the economy
the banks failing....the usual.

7. Stay as it is. Clearly the New Yorker cover isn't news
when compared to the housing collapse, the end of the 4th amendment, etc..

10. In some cases I believe you could combine answers one and two.
If the right wing has spent enormous energy and or resources waging war by lies, smear, innuendo and propaganda against a Democratic Candidate, for "friendly" sources to join in even if by satire can subliminally reinforce those lies and or propaganda.

I would liken it to going quail hunting with Dick Cheney or being wounded/killed by "friendly fire" in combat.

The ironic thing is, after Dick Cheney's hunting accident, some of the right wing said the attorney being shot in the face should apologize to Cheney for getting in the way as Cheney was trying to shoot a little bird, likewise today some can't understand the offense felt by those being shot by the New Yorker's piss poor aim.

11. Not to toot my own horn, but...
...on another thread I started (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=3617759&mesg_id=3617759) there is a really interesting conversation about the cover.

Some very good points by the DU community.

14. Faux 's favorite tactic
Deliberately broadcast lies then do a half asses retraction after it's been saturated into the public.
i.e. putting a D after a Republican in a scandal, putting up the wrong image or altering an image, or posting a question they know is false so it appears as fact "The Best President?" "Is Obama a Muslim?"

16. Be EXTREMELY blatant about their support for one political party.
Here's what The Sun did on April 9th, 1992.

Now if *ALL* the news outlets were this blatant then it would be bloody awful and I'd know then I'd be in a dictatorship.

As it happens, Kinnock lost the General Election, after having been projected to win it.

(As you may or may not know, The Sun newspaper is owned by News International... same people who own Fox.)
