Now that the Libby verdict is in, I hope that you and the Committee will pursue the question of Mr. Cheney's role in the matter of the outing of an undercover CIA operative. Mr. Fitzgerald hinted today that he will provide information to the Committee if you request it.

Also, Mr. Bush's role in the affair needs to be examined. What we know is that he secretly declassified secret documents. Apparently, only he, Cheney and Libby knew that parts of the NIE had been declassified. This is, at least I would think, highly unusual protocol. Moreover, it was used for the purpose of giving legal cover to the OVP so that the selected information could be used in a political smear campaign.

That sounds like an impeachable abuse of power to me.

Am wondering about the WH claim that they don't have to respond to subpoenas?? The DOJ would be the arm that had to enforce the subpoenas, and I don't see Gonzales doing that. I think, that in the end, it would take 2 years for the Supreme Court to force (or not) WH officials to even respond to subpoenas. So, the hearing will most likely be done with low-level officials, and we will never be completely satisfied. Thoughts?
