Is Anyone Watching Anymore? 114 More Dead in Iraq

The killing continues -- twin suicide bombings on Shiite pilgrims yesterday, a series of shootings and I.E.D. attacks today. Have we become complacent about the daily carnage in Iraq?

3. And Brian Williams of NBC is over there....
and he thinks things are better because he didn't have to wear a vest (at least that's what he said on Monday). With all the deaths yesterday and today will he change his tune? Sorry, a little OT but it made me think of BW.

He was visibly uncomfortable with that dose of crow. Bet he's on his way back by now.

12. And the *amn flag should be lowered to half mast
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 02:59 PM by peace13
until the soldiers quit dying on foreign soil! AKKKKKK....this just gets worse and Congress is checking on minimum wage and other critical issues. The weight of the wasted souls is amassing exponentially and it rests on the backs of the ignorant Americans who let this war continue. I just don't see how people can ignore all of the killing.

edit to add half mast

20. And I hear this morning that
Ms Polosi is going to suggest that troops begin leaving Iraq by fall of NEXT year. My jaw hit the floor when I heard that. We didn't elect a democratic majority last Nov for them to let this occupation drag on for TWO MORE YEARS!!! I am just about to the point of screaming with frustration. I really thought we had done something special last November......now I feel we just voiced an opinion into a black hole.:-(

14. The media already told us the power "surge" is going great
heaven & earth would have to move for them to change from the Rove-inspired line.

15. "One man's death is a tragedy; the death of millions is a statistic." - Stalin
The victims have been reduced to nameless, faceless, ignored, numbers. Much like the "body counts" in Vietnam.

16. The suicide bombing attacks on Shiites never seems to let up
does it? The Sunnis are outnumber 3 to 1 in Iraq, so it doesn't make sense that they keep provoking the Shiites by bombing markets, temples, pilgrimages, unless they just feel they can't live under Shiite rule in Iraq.

I believe that it is traditional for Sunnis look down on Shiites as more common than they are, almost like a caste system. (Though in Iraq before the war the two sects seemed to get along quite well, though under minority Sunni rule admittedly.) I wonder if it would be similar to whites in Mississippi after the Civil War facing the prospect of living under majority black rule, so they unleashed the KKK to use violence to keep the majority from exercising power (or even basic citizenship in this case.)

Could Sunni bombers in Iraq be their own version of a modern KKK using more modern and powerful weapons?

19.  Seems to me that many important issues vanish from sight
It's this here today , gone tomarrow news media , all compete with the same story even on the radio .

All the issues pertaining to this war and the whitehouse and the economy are vital issues .

I really hope nothing ends up in the vast memory hole .

21. Only the immediate dead are being reported, how about those that die from their wounds
a week from now. They never get reported on and I doubt the care for Iraqis is anywhere near as good as the care given Americans..
