OMFG....has it come to this?? And the baby is not due til this winter so that $100 will probably be at the most a single tank of gas!!

Someday, when a boy named Dixon and Willoughby Partin asks how he got his 24-letter name, he'll learn it came with a hundred bucks worth of gasoline.

David Partin of Orlando offered the right to name his unborn son to a local radio station that offered $100 worth of free gas to the listener with the most interesting item to trade. Radio hosts Richard Dixon and J. Willoughby took Partin's deal.

When the baby is born this winter, he will be named Dixon and Willoughby Partin, with the "and" included.

Partin's girlfriend, Samantha Bailey, tells the Orlando Sentinel that at least he will have an interesting story about how he got his name.

2. A name is just a name
Dixon isn't a bad name. Why are people hung up on labels?

4. I heard this, too ....... it occurs to me that besides being a true Dumbfuck* .......
..... the parents are so incredibly stupid. A hundred bucks? How much would the guy charge to (make up disgusting but harmless act and insert it here)?

I actually kinda think this ought to classified as child abuse.

* Dumbfuck: A citizen of Dumbfuckistan, which is not a place, but a state of mind. Like Brigadoon without the cute part.

5. sort of a simple parenting test, isn't it?
I don't really think it's child abuse per se, since a name can really be anything (and he can shorten it to Dixon, which is perfectly normal sounding name--there are a lot of much stupider names out there!), but I'd worry more that it's dangerous to allow a child to remain with parents who are just so stupid. If he did it for $5000, I'd think, "Well, he could put that in a college fund for the kid, so that's not too stupid." But $100 in gas? When a single tank for my 13.5gal Mustang costs $50?

It's not child abuse, but these people are clearly so stupid that they'll probably end up harming him out of sheer idiocy.

8. he has until like aged 2 to change the kid's name
so actually (unless there is some sort of contract) he could show the certificate, get the 100.00, then legally change the name afterwards. Hope he has thought of this.
