Plumber's/Repairman's crack outlawed in Flint, MI.

This is a handy identification guide for police officers enforcing Flint, Michigan's baggy pants ban.

On June 27, the chief issued a departmental memorandum telling officers: "This immoral self expression goes beyond freedom of expression."

The crime, he says, is disorderly conduct or indecent exposure, both misdemeanors punishable by 93 days to a year in jail and/or fines up to $500.

<Flint Police Chief David> Dicks, 41, broke down his interpretation of the laws as such: Pants pulled completely below the buttocks with underwear showing is disorderly conduct; saggy pants with skin of the buttocks showing is indecent exposure, and saggy pants, not completely below the buttocks, with underwear exposed results in a warning.--<Free Press>

4. Sentence is a bit long
But I get kind of sick of people running around with their pants down. I walk with my elderly mother at night, and we've run across a few kids with the farthest example on the right, and it's pretty disgusting. Call me an old fart, but I don't get it, and don't want to get it. I don't much care for listening to rap music three blocks away either.

Oh well, a chink in my liberal facade, but if I agreed with, or put up with everything under the liberal sign, I'd be an idiot.

11. Can' say I understand it, support, or like it
but can't say I can get my undies in a wad about it, either. It isn't, as a society, worthy of our attention and it certainly isn't worthy of Flint's concern when the town has one in 4 of it's residents living in poverty.

6. And for 'indecent exposure'
conviction would also require registration as a 'sex offender'.

20. Well
That's a bit extreme. As I said, the sentence is a bit long. But how hard is it to pull your pants up? It is obviously done on purpose, and what for? I don't get it, and like I said, I don't want to get it.

I wouldn't mind them throwing them in jail for a couple of nights, then purging any record of it after a couple of months. Just pull up your pants, and have a little fricken "personal responsibility" for Christ's sake.

13. Plumbers and handymen can relax, it's not about them.
It's about controlling teen-to-20's urban hip-hop ghetto fashion statements.

19. They tried to do that here
but the bill still sits in committee, hopefully it will never see the light of day. Our bill also measured how much cleavage a woman could be allowed and all sorts of funny stuff but it was dead serious. We called it the Anal Cleavage bill because that was how they described plummers crack. I am amazed that this really happened somewhere, I mean I am in Kansas where lots of strange shit happens with our Pubbies and we managed to let it sit. Maybe next session. We are ready for it if it does get out of committee, it will be fun if nothing else.

21. We had a City councilperson suggest legislation like this in Balto. The public backlash killed it.
It'll just take an african american officer to arrest a rich old white lady because he could see her slip or brastrap. This law will be quickly overturned. The NAACP is going to have a field day with this. Jessie Jackson will be running all over that town with his ass hanging out.......more than usual.

27. A flight attendant I know told the story of a man getting on with pants as in "Disorderly Conduct"
and was reaching up to put his bag in the overhead compartment.

His pants dropped completely to the floor, and he ignored it, fiddling around with his bag in the compartment.

Then he picked up his pants and walked on as if nothing had happened.

We dirtyhippiecommiepinkobums got the ire of my parent's generation, but... it was NOTHING like this.

BASTA!
