1. How about the German street fair in Ann Arbor?

No Munich for me this year.....


I'd love to go though. I've been to Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Heidelberg and Cologne, but never to Munich.

then that works too.

You´ve been to some mighty fine German cities, Munich can wait.

Oktoberfest has been going on for 175 years, it will take place next year too.

3. Too late--should have booked rooms in January

You wouldn't believe what a zoo the airport and hotel scene is that time of the year.

4. We'll have beer and Wurst at home

One of those staycations we can afford now.

6. Maybe Next Year...

First, getting passports are a real pain...at least one doesn't have to wait six months these days, but I'm not too crazy to let this regime rummage through my life any further than they already have.

Then there's the expense. We were hoping to travel to Europe this year, but when we started to see the oil prices start to soar and the dollar plummet, the costs of such a vacation started to get a bit too high for all of us to feel comfortable with...instead the money went into new insulated windows for the house.

Also there's the hassles with travelling...having to deal with airlines who feel they're doing you a favor by actually getting a plane in the air from here to there. You're treated like cattle and then charged for that "privilidge"...and I'm not even gonna get into the major monster TSA has become in that process. I honestly have concerns that once I step out of the country I may have problems returning...while I know it's unfounded, it's there nonetheless.

One of my remaining dreams is to visit many places, including a visit to Bavaria...but it's gonna have to wait for a better time and day.
