The Coverup Continues and Only We Can Stop It
By: Scarecrow

<snip>

Yesterday a jury of 11 of his peers convicted Scooter Libby of four felonies: giving false statements (lying) to the FBI, two counts of perjury (lying) before a federal Grand Jury and obstructing justice in the investigation into who disclosed the identity of a CIA agent. But the unamimous guilty verdicts by the jurors who actually heard the evidence did not matter to the Administration apologists who simply don’t care about the evidence. Unlike Iraq, where the Administration apparently has no “Plan B,” their supporters were ready with their response to the verdicts: control the media narrative, bury the obvious accountability moment, obscure the “cloud over Cheney,” and more important, discredit the legal process and manipulate the eventual outcome. The coverup is in still on.

Last night those predictable apologists ran to the news programs with a massive disinformation campaign, starting with Fox News declaring the jury was “hopelessly confused” but focusing more on how “unfair” it was to poor Scooter Libby. TRex’ late nite post reveals another example of the “poor Libby” theme carried out by the right wing. These were followed by similar attacks on the verdicts on CNN and MSNBC. The apologists were very clear about what they are trying to do. It is a sign of the arrogance and moral depravity of this regime and its supporters that they did this right in front of us.

1. It's Getting Beyond Ridiculous For Any Repug To Take The Party Line Now......
and spew the Repug talking points that *Co wants them to. The talking points are becoming indefensible and making those that spew them look like the same kind of raving maniacs that are running the WH. When does credibility become an issue - even for the * apologists?

This Libby conviction is just another nail in *Co's coffin - and as such - another nail in the coffin of the Repug party. The Repugs have to do something or they will not only lose the Presidency in '08 but they will lose big in both the Senate and the House. They will not have enough votes in either chamber to stop the Dems. There will be no more non-binding resolutions after '08 unless they come from the few Repugs that will be left.

It is time for the * apologists and Congressional Repugs to visit the WH and give * the opportunity to resign before they start the 'impeachment' process themselves.

The Repugs need to get to Libby and get him to flip to help them out.

They can't be foolish enough to think that they even have a prayer of a chance in '08 - if *Co finishes out its term.

3. Big difference, though
Back in the 70s, there were some Republicans who had things like principles, and some who believed in the Constitution. Who among the current Republic crowd in Washington is principled and puts country before party?

sorry, don't remember his name, but he was identified as coming from a "conservative think tank" (not one i recognized) read- paid liar. he earned his paycheck. "i worked with scooter libby, and he never forgot anything" but "cheney didn't leak, so how did scooter obstruct justice?" :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

6. He was a particularly stupid or disingenuous commentator, wasn't he?
If Libby lied to investigators and committed perjury (which the trial determined he did), then the deliberate lie and perjury were the obstruction of justice. Anyone who can't figure that out on his or her own really shouldn't be speaking on NPR. Nor, frankly, should they be out on their own without someone to help them cross streets without being hit by a car. :)

8. Yes, the media are taking the juror's comments out of context.
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 02:46 PM by BuyingThyme
They're taking his contention that the likes of Rove should be on trial TOO, and turning it into a contention that they prosecuted the wrong guy. It took some dishonest editing to do this.

The juror should sue their fucking asses off.

9. Once upon a time, that stuff would really worry me, not anymore...
with morons* polls in the toilet and 70% of the nation not believing any thing these asshole say anylonger, I think that faux news is quickly losing it's relevancy. They bark out to the 29% but that's all that's listening now.
