Fisa capitulation
Ok, I knew that this covered telephone calls, but I never thought about computer connections untill Abrams mentioned it just now.

So theoretically, I could be doing research on say, health care, link to a site about the health care systems in the rest of the industrial word, connect to a nes story in France h happens to run on the same server as something that the Fatherland Security is interested in, and BAM , they are all over my computer?

:puke:

1. Check out DemocracyNow.org
earlier this week (yesterday???) the guest was a whistleblower from ATT who said that NSA was copying/monitoring ALL internet traffic that passed thru his data center

That would be EVERYTHING

Now think about this.... NSA copies EVERYTHING, and bogs itself down so badly it can't do its job (to keep us safe)

what a huge waste.

2. Copies & then data-mines
It's truly scary to think about the power of an unleashed surveillance technology. They're probably running all that copied info through their "Total Information Awareness" data mines, cross-checking w/ATM records, travel behaviors, phone numbers, etc. The no-fly lists used data mines to "rank" people based on their terror risk, but the same technology can be used to filter & rank by other criteria as well (liberalism, foreign nationality, whatever). W/all that info, they could "rank" every American & perhaps already have.
