3. I have seen this earlier and I think the USA Today has a write on it as well as CNN.
I think its interesting coming from an oil guy who is also a supporter of some of the dirty trick gop campaign crap. But he claims he is specifically staying away from the candidates on this issue so he will be taken seriously.

Move Over, Oil, There’s Money in Texas Wind
By CLIFFORD KRAUSS

Correction Appended

SWEETWATER, Tex. — The wind turbines that recently went up on Louis Brooks’s ranch are twice as high as the Statue of Liberty, with blades that span as wide as the wingspan of a jumbo jet. More important from his point of view, he is paid $500 a month apiece to permit 78 of them on his land, with 76 more on the way.

“That’s just money you’re hearing,” he said as they hummed in a brisk breeze recently.

Texas, once the oil capital of North America, is rapidly turning into the capital of wind power. After breakneck growth the last three years, Texas has reached the point that more than 3 percent of its electricity, enough to supply power to one million homes, comes from wind turbines.

Texans are even turning tapped-out oil fields into wind farms, and no less an oilman than Boone Pickens is getting into alternative energy.

I have the same feelings about wind,” Mr. Pickens said in an interview, “as I had about the best oil field I ever found.” He is planning to build the biggest wind farm in the world, a $10 billion behemoth that could power a small city by itself.

7. He's putting together a syndicate to raise $10 billion
for an enormous wind farm. He's in it for the money, but I don't care. Its a step in the right direction

11. I agree. However we get going is fine.
I have often wondered why the oil companies don't really turn themselves into ENERGY companies much like Anheuser-Busch and Miller buying up microbrews in the early 90's they are in the beer business not the Bud and Miller business.

12. Everybody's in it for the money.
His plan is a start. Bush has had eight years and done nothing. The next President needs to hit the ground running. Give us a reason to hope!

14. Agreed!
He's an ass who needs to pay a "wealth tax" of say 10% of his net worth a year to pay for all the people he's fucked over to make his money. There's lots and lots of children in West Texas living in trailers and eating Ramen noodles so that he can have the billions he has.

You can bet if there's money to be made putting up windmills in West Texas, Pickens will take the profits and the laborers who put up the windmills and keep them running will still be living in trailers and eating Ramen noodles.

15. If he can make a major dent...
...in the amount of oil we import, and encourage others to do the same, he DESERVES to make all the money he legally can from the venture. Rethug dirty trickster or not.
