McClellan confirms Cheney started war to enrich himself.
This is from "Think Progress" They have it on tape.

MCCLELLAN: Certainly you can’t discount the large oil reserves inside Iraq and how much that plays into our national security interests and I don’t think you can discount how much that plays into the vice president’s thinking.

BROWN: Or his portfolio for that matter.

MCCLELLAN: Or his portfolio for that matter, absolutely with that being a former chief executive officer for Halliburton and that certainly played heavily into his thinking more so I think than the idea of transforming the Middle East into a beacon of democracy.

1. He's past amusing me and gone right back to pissing me off.
So he understood that, and he kept silent while they plotted treason, murder, and war crimes?

Turn state's evidence, Scotty, maybe we'll let you off easy. Maybe.

7. Actually, I think more people are finding out about BushCo's crimes this way
Most people get their news from the teevee. If Scotty's all over the teevee talking about it, more people will see it. How many folks do you know (outside of DU and the blogosphere) who actually follow Congressional investigations?

14. Sure, but that doesn't change what I said.
If he knew about it beforehand and didn't speak up, there's no place for redemption for him. A million dead, probably more by now.

had he spoken out years ago.

A million dead people who should still be alive?

2. Man, I keep thinking McClellan is going to have an "accident"
But here he is spilling even more juicy beans. They must REALLY have pissed him off- I didn't think he had it in him.

3. juicy beans?
What beans even matter? Anyone intelligent knew Bush was a liar when he ran for President. For the past few years, even centrists have known he was a lying murderer. What is America going to do about it?

Nothing, nothing, nothing. The revolt isn't coming, and the opposition party won't even bother with an administrative slap on the wrist. We could all watch Bush shooting preschoolers in person tomorrow, and the Senate and the House would still not challenge him.

Luckily, Obama is coming! Despite the political votes he had to make to approve war funding and not impeach and maintain a center-right status quo since 2002, once he is President, he is going to CHANGE everything, and we will finally get back the country we want! We only have to wait a little longer!

21. "Anyone intelligent knew Bush was a liar"...
...but that doesn't include everyone who needs to know it.

Reminds me of a famous exchange when Adlai Stevenson was running for President. A supporter called out, "Governor Stevenson, all thinking people are for you!" And Adlai Stevenson answered, "That's not enough. I need a majority."

15. Actually, I'm reading McClellan's book right now and he doesn't seem a bit
upset about anything that doesn't excuse his lame ass from all he did.

I'm disgusted withthis book and I'm only in the first chapter.

I may notmake it to the end if this keeps up. I only have so much time to devote to reading history and I don't want to read a fairy tale...

6. Without the usual gloss that "the Deciderer" was really in charge
just confirms what most of us with a little common sense (GD-Primary excluded) have known all along.

At this rate, someone will confirm that brown rice is brown too.

10. Cheney played bush and the neocons like a fiddle
There was something in this war for everybody.

The boy king got to feel like he actually possessed male genitalia by becoming a war president.

The neocons got to try out their half baked theories on the ground in Iraq.

And Cheney got the best deal of all - he got to make brazillions of dollars off the oil in Iraq.

And you and me (and our kids and grandkids ad infinitum) get to pay for the Dick's wet dream.

16. Masters of War
Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

18. Clearly, a reason for an impeachment hearing to investigate...
...and examine the facts and perhaps forward an indictment to the Senate for trial as the Founding Fathers intended and, in fact, expected.

Oh, that's right, someone in a single position of authority says that the prescribed Constitutional process can't be undertaken.

20. During the French Revolution, the Guillotine Was Placed In The Public Square For A Reason...
... until corrupt, criminal and evil men are brought before the public to account for their wrongdoing, there will be constant repeated occurrences of the same behavior by others.

Wonder if Cheney ever read any history? It might be instructive to review what happens when the people finally have had enough.

22. McClellan's not "confirming" anything here, any more than you or I speculating.
Or did he bring evidence forward showing Cheney was motivated by his portfolio?

I loathe Cheney and want to see him spend his remaining years in the infirmary of some Federal prison, but don't see McClellan's speculation providing any significant evidence moving us in that direction.
