Mark Green: Air America 2.0 Begins Today
Air America 2.0 Begins Today (
Today my family formally purchases and takes over Air America Radio. Why? Because if progressive values were a stock, now is the time to buy.
That hasn't always been true, as the cycle of politics demonstrates. In recent decades, politics seems to have been governed by physics - for every action, there's an opposite and equal reaction.
William F. Buckley Jr. started The National Review in the 1950s to rebut what he saw as the dominance of liberalism in the academy and opinion journals like The Nation and The New Republic. From 1970-72, Public Citizen, Common Cause and the NRDC were all created in reaction to Nixon's depredations. Similarly, People For the American Way grew out of the rise of the Religious Right under Reagan in the mid-80s.
New progressive think tanks over the past 10 years, most recently and prominently the Center for American Progress, were created to counter AEI and Heritage. And, of course, the Huffington Post and Air America were born in reaction to the electronic propaganda of Drudge and Limbaugh et. al.

2. 1st order of business: get hartmann on the affiliate stations
if ed schultz hates air america so much, he doesn't deserve to be sandwiched between sam and randi on most of the stations

3. I like it. Green is a solid progressive and is smart as ...
... a whip. If anyone can make it work I think he can.

4. Go Mark! Still crying for not having you as Mayor - but this is good news!
Thanks Sharpton & Giuliani for giving us the GOP media mogul who had a tighter reign on media than BFEE...Our city is going to the dogs. But Air America is a good thing! I wish it makes you richer than Bloomberg!

9. Hopefully he can help get it back on the air
where it's been taken off by sales or just by program directors from hell.

10. Can you sell syndication rights of shows to other radio stations?
AAR was taken off the air here in Cincinnati, and if I can't get an AAR station here I'd at least like to be able to listen to some progressive talk.

If AAR can sell some syndication rights for individual shows, it might generate revenues. I don't know how the radio business works, but I want AAR to succeed.

13. Hey everybody with all of these suggestions. TAKE ACTION!
Don't just sit here and wish. Call those local affilliates. Call or email AirAmerica and tell them who you want on the air. ESPECIALLY call or email XMRadio and tell them they need to have Air America Radio on their Air America channel in its entirety! (do that one for me please! :)).

I fully believe that we got Randi live on XM Radio finally because we sent so many emails and voicemails bugging them about it. Your opinion matters, especially in such a new market as Progressive Radio.

Take action. It works.
