Reid statement on Libby Verdict - bwahahaha
REID STATEMENT ON THE LIBBY VERDICT

Washington, DC — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today released the following statement on news that a jury has found Lewis "Scooter" Libby, former Chief of Staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice.

"I welcome the jury's verdict. It's about time someone in the Bush Administration has been held accountable for the campaign to manipulate intelligence and discredit war critics. Lewis Libby has been convicted of perjury, but his trial revealed deeper truths about Vice President Cheney's role in this sordid affair. Now President Bush must pledge not to pardon Libby for his criminal conduct."

2. Again, Wilson is not a critic - he told the truth.
There's a big difference between the two - our leadership needs to start talking along those lines.

3. WRONG!!!!!! "Critics" are NOT automatically liars.
Wilson is a critic. And that's NOT a crime.

4. You put words into my post.
You can be both a critic and a liar and a critic and tell the truth. It is, however, a more powerful statement to say that Wilson was punished for telling/uncovering the truth - rather than for merely criticizing the king. Reid should have used stronger words.

What Wilson did was far more than criticize.

8. Taken by themselves, your words look exactly like an
insinuation that a critic equals a liar.

Poor wording. I know that's not what you really meant.

10. I agree with your subject line
but Wilson was not criticizing bush for his SOTU. He didn't offer opinion about the content of the speech. He called bush a liar. We might delve into a semantic playground but Wilson was not a speech critic or reviewer of bush's speech he was a truth teller. He didn't get on the wrong side of this evil administration by criticizing it. He did something even more damning. He told the truth.

7. Wilson Was A Critic. Your Logic Makes No Sense.
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 05:17 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
You are acting as if being a 'critic' of something automatically makes one unreasonable, dishonest or untrustworthy.

Wilson was absolutely a critic.

On edit: Just read your other explanation. I think now you're just playing semantics so to speak. Yes, he was attacked for telling the truth but he was a critic as well. I don't see any problem with Reid's wording at all.

9. In the specific instance of Wilson's trip to Niger
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 09:30 AM by BOSSHOG
and the resulting manipulation of his findings by the administration, Wilson did not criticize the administration he told the truth. They lied. He exposed their lies. No criticism at all; just the truth. Because of the administrations mendacity and evil nature Wilson has become calloused to their activity but his initial actions which led to the admins actions against him were were not critical in nature. Far worse then criticism for the administration, Wilson merely told the truth.

bush and his band of criminals could not possibly care less about critics. However if you tell the truth, you become a target.
