Bill Clinton offers support to Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton on Tuesday offered to help Barack Obama win the White House, although what work he'll do for his wife's former rival remained uncertain.
The Obama campaign is still smarting over some of Bill Clinton's criticism in the primary race, while the last Democratic president remains a popular political draw. But before the two can work together, they have to speak. (snip)

Obama said the only reason they haven't spoken is because Bill Clinton is traveling overseas. He praised the former president and said he's "looking forward to setting up a long conversation." (snip)

1. Bill Clinton is a politician, Barack Obama is a politician.
Bill Clinton will support Barack Obama and do whatever he is asked to do to get him elected. They are politicians, end of story.

2. Of course. That is what makes it so maddening that so many DUers are so ready to accept any garbage
smear printed by obvious shills for the neoconservatives.

I remember when Bill Clinton was affectionately referred to as The Big Dog and he was admired by the members of this board.

Now, he is trashed worse than bush jr. and his accomplishments have all been belitted by members of this board.

That kind of turn around is scary. And it doesn't argue will for the future of the Democratic Party.

5. It is this type of inexplicable bitterness toward those who have served us well in the past
that has me spending less and less time on DU and spending more time on E-bay (to my cost) and playing games like Chuzzle, Peggle, What Words, and Astro Pop.

I prefer mindless entertainment like that to the ugliness that has become entrenched at DU since GD:P was allowed to spin into a smelly mud machine.

10. "spending more time on E-bay....."
Me, too! I'm damn near broke because I have spent so much money on things I don't REALLY need at E-bay, simply because I'm spending way more time there than here.

I need to spend my time someplace cheaper, like Myspace.com!

8. It doesn't argue well for the future of democracy little "d" either.
If all Clinton supporters get for their votes are threats and insults...?

I'm voting for Obama because he is the Democratic candidate. But his supporters continue to make me ill and fearful.
