Mike Barnacle said it on "Hardball" earlier: In early March 2003, right before the invasion of Iraq,
the price of a barrel of oil was slightly under $30 a barrel...

And the McBush camp wants you to believe that the Iraq War has nothing to do with high fuel prices....

1. Of course it does! Do you have any idea how much fuel the military is using there?
Planes, tanks Hummvees, delivery trucks, tankers delivering the fuel....... My guess is that there is more fuel being used in Iraq per day than is being used here in the US.

4. Now There's Another Reason To Begin Pulling The Troops Out.....
one that I think most Americans will get behind rather quickly if they can see that oil prices would begin to drop when usage by the military goes down.

2. I saw that - he didn't exactly connect the current price to the war
but at least he mentioned oil prices and the Iraq war in the same set of comments. I haven't seen any discussion anywhere in the media on the impact of the Iraq war on the price of oil. It seems to be another one of those taboo subjects.

5. in fairness, Rupert Murdoch did predict the war would affect oil prices
he said it would go down to $20/barrel.
