Post here if you're not a very good American.
"I don't feel about that war the way we were told to feel about that war, the way we were ordered and instructed by the U.S. Government to feel about that war. My mind doesn't work that way. I've got a real moron thing I do, it's called THINKING. I'm not a very good American because I like to form my own opinions. I don't just roll over when I'm told to. Sad to say, most Americans just roll over on command, not me. I have certain rules to live by. My first rule is:

I don't believe anything the government tells me. NOTHING! ZERO! I don't take very seriously the media or the press in this country and in the case of the Persian Gulf War; they were nothing more than unpaid employees of the Department of Defense, and most of the time, serve as an unofficial public relations agency for the United States Government. So I don't listen to them, I don't REALLY believe in my country."

-George Carlin

2. George Carlin was never afraid to challenge the status quo
Consider that his comments were made regarding the FIRST Gulf War. That wasn't very popular to say at the time- I still remember watching CNN at the time(I was 12), and they were airing Pentagon videos of cruise missiles crashing into "Weapons facilities"

It was a f*cking 3 ring circus.

And this man DARED to point out that the emperor had no clothes.

4. I can make the distinction between...
...people like Bunnatine Greenhouse:

...who, make up the government (bureaucrats) and a coward like this:

...who, make up the GOP Party establishment. So, I guess that also means I'm not a "very good American".

7. My grandfather had a saying.....
"Believe nothing you hear, and only half of what you see." Good words to live by if you ask me. I guess I'm not a good American, somewhere along the way I absorbed the "always question authority" mode of thinking, so I guess you're in pretty good company.

I'm an unpatriotic protester and peace activist.

I don't believe anything that I can see from this government.

Carpe diem.

9. My confession: I have NO debt.
None. My house is paid off. My cars are paid off. If I want something, I save until I have enough money to buy it without credit.

Is that akin to treason?

10. Carlin had some "disciplinary problems" when he was in the Air Force
I had a few of those when I was in the Navy, so I'm probably a bad American too. But I could never live up to the Carlin standard.

11. Well, I'm not any sort of American of course; but IMO a good citizen DOES think!
And in a democracy, your government are your servants, not your bosses.

15. How about 'Vigilant Americans"... remaining ever vigilant at preserving our Democracy, our Country
and our guaranteed freedoms. We must stand up *together*, as a people, to defend ourselves against those who threaten our way of life, those who wish to remove our rights and oppress us. Stay ever vigilant and remember:

NEVER. GIVE. UP!
