No this isn't a dupe, it's a bit of a warning.
MoveOn's subtle little push is just the 1st of many more to come. It has been discussed here before that participating in the Democratic Party is a little like herding cats. Obama is going to have to deal with a wide range of groups and while I don't think the Move on thing is make or break, it will be interesting to see how he handles it.
Much speculation has gone on about what might happen in Denver this summer. I think we are going to see Move on, Code Pink, Act Up, Recreate68, Acorn, ANSWER, Iraq Vets, Viet Nam Vets, Free Mumia, Free Tibet, Black Panthers, Grey Panthers, Crawford House (starring Cindy Sheehan)and on and on and on. All with legitimate agendas, all vying for attention and all wanting a piece of Barack Obama, the newly crowned leader of the party.
Those of us that remember Chicago 68 might be just a little apprehensive at this point. Can Obama unite the party or does Denver turn into a cluster fark? Will he survive his own supporters to take on the Republicans or will he be making his acceptance speech, to a half empty convention hall, at 3 am with a backdrop of chaos?
I do wish him luck, I hope he is up to the challenge.
(Just a little editorial comment, Moveon comes up moron in my spell checker. I hope that isn't a sign of anything.)
