Here's hoping we can capitalize on it.
Apparently his coastline drilling flip-flop is going to be part of his new plan to make gasoline a 'security" issue..
Hallellujah, I say..
Here's why..
IF gasoline..affordable & plentiful is a security issue, do we dare trust it to remain in the hands of "private" companies who seek only personal wealth from the exploitation of it?
Perhaps it's finally time to make the "change" and make the petroleum industry a NATIONALIZED/PROTECTED/REGULATED industry...and to set in motion a plan to use it as a "bridge" industry used to stabilize our economy while we switch over to more eco-friendly, renewable sources.
There are closed military bases all over the country, that could be used as sites for specialty refineries, designed and built to refine the particular formulations needed for that area..That would save the diesel used in trucking the stuff all over the country.. It would also provide local communities with jobs, and cheaper energy..
Oil companies have made giganto profits for long enough, and their time is now over. If they want to be involved, it would have to be on a different footing. They could be paid contractors for services rendered, but the actual product would be OWNED by our government...US...ALL of US.. not just the few rich fatcats who have been stealing from us all for far too long..
So lets thank John for starting us down the path...AWAY from privatization..
There are many other things that need to be "taken back" from the buccaneers who currently run them.. here's a few we could start with via strict regulations
1) energy transmission/production 2) medical services delivery 3) airlines 4) banking 5) food safety
