LA Times dropped Mallard Fillmore!
:woohoo:

In case you are unaware of who Mallard Fillmore is, it's an unfunny cartoon strip about a GOP talking point-spouting duck drawn by a really angry Rush Limbaugh listener who's been arrested not once, but twice for a DUI conviction.

No political motive but they say it's being replaced by an expanded kids page.

2. Good! I wouldn't mind it if it were at least creative, funny, and truthful.
There is plenty about which to parody and make fun of in the liberal/democratic demographic - but Mallard has not the intelligence or subtlety to go for it. It's far easier, apparently, to just lie and be mean.

I hate that comic.

There are times that Bloom County made fun of liberals, and some other comics have done so, and done so very well - accurate, not lying, and not just being mean but being prophetically funny in the true sense of the Jester.

Mallard is nothing but ignorant meanness disguised as thoughtful satirical commentary.

4. Just like "The 1/2 Hour News Hour", both prove conservatives have no sense of humor.

5. Bloom County and Doonesbury
both have that insider perspective on the absurdity (in the comedic sense) of much of liberalism and liberals, as well as conservatism and conservatives.

7. Sad, isn't it. I still subscribe because my local paper has been wrecked by Wendy McCaw
Just google her name for the gory details.

I am SO GLAD that Mallard Fillmore is no more on the comics page at the LAT! It's just one nasty lying Rovian talking point after the other. Nothing funny whatsoever.

And cue the Vonage theme!
:woohoo:

But seriously, folks, I remember how happy I was when it was dropped from the New York Daily News. It was so unfunny that I didn't know it was supposed to be political until I became a DU-er! Mallard has lost his leverage since the November election--the papers aren't intimidated by his accusations of liberal bias anymore. THAT'S why his creator has been drinking more lately!

12. That's good. However, they also dropped "Candorville".
That's bad.

They also still carry the horribly drawn and only somewhat less contemptible "Prick City", which at least has one slight redeeming feature over the Dickish Duck in that its author doesn't also fancy himself a "poet".:puke::puke::puke:

14. The Orlando Slantinel posts it side by side with Doonesbury
on the editorial page, WTF. Clueless Chicago owned fishwrapper. It's not so much as they carry it as the insult it does Trudeau. The bastards dropped Charlie Reese when they bought it too, he was too sympathetic to agrarian, indigenous people who were victims of genocide. And they wonder why they have to rely on advertisers instead of subscribers........asshats.
