San Diego drivers appreciate Mexico's cheap gas

Associated Press

SAN DIEGO - If there's pain at the pump in the U.S., Mexico may just have a remedy. A gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in San Diego retails for an average price of $4.61 a gallon. A few miles south, in Tijuana, it's about $2.54 — even less if you pay in pesos.

1. But what is Mexican gas like?
Is there a danger of someone not paying attention to put leaded gas in an unleaded car (which will destroy the catalytic converter)? Is it decent quality?

In addition, there is that long wait to go back across the border, and the fact that most U.S. insurance companies do not cover anything outside of U.S. borders.

I ask this not because of anything against Mexico. It's just that cars are usually configured differently for different countries. Putting strange gas in a car sounds like it could have some risks.

Still, sounds like a pretty good deal on gas. That is, if one considers $2.54 cheap.

3. So GOPhers from San Diego cross the border...
...for cheaper products?

How is this any different than senior citizens going to Canada for prescription drugs?

Oh, yeah, GOPhers are doing it.

Fuck California's 50th, so dead to me, it never existed!
