If you had the chance, would you meet the President?
Every year the various NCAA and professional championship teams meet with the president in the rose garden. They never get to ask questions, it is just a photo op.

If you were on one of these teams, would you go?

6. Probably not - depends on who the president is
This one, no.

Maybe show up with an anti Bush T-shirt and then not be allowed to attend. That would be humorous.

16. I did, and no. I drove past a small diner he was visiting for some PR thingy
I was aware he was going to be here, but hadn't given it much thought. I drove down the street The Sports Page is on {Center Point is a main thorough-way in this area} and caught the black limos, security people, etc. Surprisingly the place was hardly busy at all. My wife has since been in there, and they sadly make a big deal about this is booth where Bush sat. Ugh...

I'd go with the team to DC but I'd respectfully ask that I'd be absent from the actual meet GW part of the tour - even if it was just to stand just off to the side with aides and photographers quietly so as not ruin the joy for teammates that find it an honor.

Not blatantly provocative enough to get me in any serious trouble, just enough to make Bush sweat a little.

Remember how Bush looked after Colbert was done with him? I'd be shooting for a reaction along those lines.

35. I HAD the chance once, and declined.
I worked in a position that would have allowed me to go to the luncheon for and speech by the Boy King when he came to our city in 2002. I was invited by my boss and the mayor, but declined. I wouldn't ever want to be in the same room with that much evil and malice. Coworkers were surprised I didn't want to go meet a sitting president. I told them I didn't vote for him, I didn't want him, and he wasn't elected. I got blank stares, but retained my dignity.

I'd meet any POTUS for purely historical reasons. Mass murders too. History is interesting. Freaky people are interesting. You don't have to like someone to find them interesting.

There's no "honor" in meeting the holder of any office unless the officeholder himself is honorable.

let it happen. No, I would never threaten a President, no matter who it was, but I couldn't nor wouldn't ever call him Mr. President! That's not well accepted in his circles! To be honest, I've never met any Presidents, and doubt I ever will. The closest I got was when I went to a Howard Dean fund raiser in Atlanta. I honestly thought he was going to be our President then, and I got to shake his hand. I'm still thrilled by that experience. Not because he might have been President, but because I admired him so much, and still do. I'm so glad he is the DNC Chair. He's done more for the Dem Party than any previous Chair has ever done.
