Wiretapping: Impeachment Not Immunity- -Pls. Sign Petition!

Wiretapping: Impeachment Not Immunity

House "Majority" Leader Steny Hoyer doesn't understand the meaning of NO.

On March 14, we won a huge victory when the House voted 213-197 for a bill to strengthen FISA without providing immunity for Bush and the telcos who illegally spied on millions of Americans without a warrant. Thanks to your lobbying efforts - including over 58,000 petitions! - just six Bush Democrats voted for immunity.

Even Steny Hoyer voted against immunity. But Hoyer kept conspiring with Bush to sneak immunity through Congress when no one was watching. And on Friday, Hoyer quietly announced a new bill to provide retroactive immunity for past warrantless wiretapping and allow new wiretapping for six more years.

So it's time for us to tell Congress once again that we will not tolerate warrantless wiretapping by George Bush or any other President, and we demand full accountability for George Bush through impeachment. Our last wiretapping petition sent over 58,000 emails to Congress - let's see if we can double that number to over 100,000.

3. Impeachement, and redefine the nature
of corporations.

No more corporate personhood. Dollars are not free speech.
The complicity of telecoms in a treasonous impeachable offense is a compelling reason to amend the constitution to limit the powers of corporations and increase their liability.

That should be party platform for 08. Curb the beast. No more Enrons, free Aunt Millie!

5. hhahaha ya right
Not with Puny Pelosi at the helm...I knew she was a fucking wimp the moment she called Bush her president and Chavez a tyrant. Aside from not hating queers and being pro-choice, she has no redeeming qualities.

8. I think the center is really freaking
that a big Dem expansion is not lifting their boats as high as it is the progressives.

Between NAFTA, outsourcing, two election thefts, the center (really center-right) have either been asleep at the switch, or on the wrong track.

Between the failure of the DLC candidate to become the nominee, and the incredibly wrong headed decision to oppose impeachment, the longstanding desire to triangulate our way to DINO status is finding itself enragingly impotent.

And, as the widestance party they so often seem to emulate has discovered repeatedly in the last year or two, the only thing that tanks you more than faith based policy is impotent rage.

While I am not a Rahm Emmanuel fan, I think the most productive thing I have seen from the DLC lately was his offer to help his old buddy out by bring the Louisville slugger to the yard. This may be the best way for the center to have a valid role in the new party pH.

Oh, and welcome to DU!

9. Democrats won in 2006 with their platform "Culture of Corruption"
Immediately upon taking office Pelosi says "Impeachment is off the table". Does she not remember what her own party used as a winning slogan during the 06 elections? I sometimes wonder???

14. Do you get an email acknowledgment after successful submission?
Upon submission, I get a few pages of MySQL errors (didn't save them).

Backup, try again, "This email address has already submitted a comment for this issue. You can select another issue to comment on here."

No acknowledgment receipt to my email address, so I presume it didn't register the comment or email the network or legislators. Do others get an email acknowledgment after successful submission?

I've had this problem at democrats.com before, it could be my software setup with privacy emphasis not reacting well with their anti-spam security. I'd sign and send it if I could.
