Tim Russert's passing should be a beacon to all of you..
There is more to life than being a workaholic and dropping dead at 58.
Take care of your health. Get lots of sleep SLOW DOWN Eat wisely Realize that if you are young now, you will not always be strong & healthy
After listening to the 24-7-endless eulogizing of the man, it's apparent that he lived a manic life. He seemed intimately involved in EVERYONE'S lives.
It also seems as if he lived on take-out, and went without sleep or even rest.
He lived life at full throttle, and ended up flaming out..at work.....not surrounded by grandchildren & family..at an old age.
the years between 40-50 are the most crucial , healthwise. Those are the years when chronic ailments pop up, and if dad is too busy to slow down and take care of health issues, Dad will die younger than he may have otherwise.
He had money, prestige, respect-of-peers, and now his 22 year old son has no Dad.
Judging from the "cast-of-thousands" who worked with him, there seemed to be no shortage of people to DO the work, but Tim seemed to be a bit of a micro-manager, and the added stress could not have done him much good..
SLOW DOWN..
The years pass much faster than you think they will..
Our youngest just got married a few weeks ago, and my husband and I wondered just where all those years went.. It seems like just yesterday our tow-headed threesome was playing in the dirt in the backyard, and now 2 of the 3 are married, grown up men..
Dad would love to have just one of those lazy afternoons back... One where dad & the boys were grading for roads with Tonkas in the yard.. But time lost can never be regained, so enjoy the down-time NOW..and steal MORE of it..
Do not put it off for "later".. Later comes faster than you think..and you will run out of time..
All the money Tim made, will come as little comfort to his family now.
