Can someone please answer me this question - why do the repukes hate the ACLU?

I have never been able to figure this one out. It seems that everyone from Limbaugh to Coulter is quick to bash the ACLU until they need to defend them from something idiotic they said.

Can someone please help me out here?

Their big bugaboo is abortion. Then it's any minority that wants equal rights.

The radio announcer made sure to tell a listener about the socialist roots of the ACLU--you know, defending the rights of unions to negotiate better working conditions for working people and so forth.

6. ACLU defends the Constitution no matter who

is the victim of the abuse. So they defend murderers, police officers, members of the press, protestors, and people who are not connected to the political organization whatsoever.

Some of their defendents are unsympathic. But their principles are sound.

They were the first major organization to call for the impeachment of Nixon.
They argued in favor of Roe v. Wade.

That's just five and we have Evolution, Racial Equality, curbing executive power, and abortion.

and will defend anyone who's constitutional rights have been violated. The only ideology they follow is the Constitution. Now it may be that 90% of the people violating the constitution are repukes but that cdoesn't have anything to do with what cases they take.

...that he hated liberals because they support the ACLU, and the ACLU is trying to get all religious symbols sandblasted from tombstones in public cemeteries. at the counter of the local family restaurant there are two things that I hear consistently. The first is the ACLU’s support of NAMBLA, and second is their attack on the Boy Scouts.

To a lesser extent but still said through clinched teeth, is their (ACLU’s) denunciation of a private citizen’s RKBA.
